We are still 9th in the xG league table (P21 W7 D9 L5 = 30 Points (+7 points). Only 4 points off the play offs! :) Our win over Port Vale was our best xG attacking performance of the season (3.4) and our second best defensive xG performance (0.4) after Tranmere Rovers(H) (0.2). 5 out of our 6 best attacking xG performances have come under Nigel Clough; and 6 out of our best 9 defensive performances.

Yesterday’s xG includes the two penalties @ 0.8 each so from open play we scored 3 goals from an xG of 1.8 from the remaining 17 shots (4 on target). The Clarke goal (including Charsley’s initial shot) accounted for 0.5 of these points.

Despite the excellent result and performance we are still not producing many clear chances with lots of the shots being from around the edge or outside the penalty box which is why many of them are off target.

This sounds critical but it’s not meant to be, I’m just stating facts. I’m very happy that we are getting in the box and creating chances or making their defence make errors for cards and penalties.

Good point Halifax.

The best attack in the league (Newport) average an xG of 1.77 per game, so that would have been average performance from them.

There are different ways of getting to the same xG. For example, on Boxing Day Harrogate had twice as many shots as Oldham but they ended up with a similar xG. The stat means nothing without some context.

Yes, good and honest. So honest if fact that he himself admits he was gash early season. Then again he had GC as manager and master tactician at the time.

12 crosses for George Maris - 6 corners, 5 free kicks and the ball into the box for the second goal?

Surprised at that one, unless he's moving on to bigger things.

Bowery’s finish for the 3rd was top drawer. A player brimming with confidence!!! A player lacking in confidence would turn back and pass across the box. Well done JB.

I presume the game will be off tomorrow due to Boris’ announcement earlier

I can’t see the season finishing now

Players are regularly tested. Watching a little of football is all that is getting some people through this tough time.

Why is it a joke ? Now the structure is in place to effectively test players, it’s a massive benefit to people to have sport continue. One of the big problems in the initial lockdown was the global suspension of sport. The decision to keep it going should be welcomed

Except they are not all being regularly tested due to the cost of doing so.

I thought Iain read that they were going to a regime where they’re tested twice a week.
