Another 2-1 win for Altrincham in the FA Trophy against Chester and they are 2nd in the National League.

Another start for Alistair Smith. He was subbed in the 64th minute. His record is now P7 W6 D0 L1. Is he finally starting to realise his potential?

Richie Sutton did not play due to a suspected broken big toe.

That’s why I never made it as a pro, I’ve got two of them.

I’d be very surprised if The Cloughs haven’t been watching his performances closely for Alty recently with a view to giving him a run out for ourselves in Jan. If he’s performing well at a side only a few places down in the pyramid and he’s match fit why not take a look at the lad at the start of Jan and there’s always the fallback of sending him back out on Loan again before the end of the window.

Have you watched Jamie Reid?

Smith was gash when he did play, they'll be looking at a lot better than him....I hope

Yes I have had that misfortune and he certainly hasn’t offered anything useful from what I’ve seen.

On A.Smith, remember he only has to compete with what we have as it stands, and from the performances I’ve seen from Maris I’m not overly impressed, he just seems to give the ball away far too easily. I get the impression Clough wants to coach players, if he thinks he will buy into the way he plays and has the right attitude and attributes, he may prove to be a reliable option, as well as the fact that he probably earns £1000 a week less than Maris, then why not have him as an option.

Not saying he’s the answer but if he’s on £500 a week and they bring in some better players he will end up being a cheap back up option. The fact is the club and several managers have kept him on the books for a few years now so they must have seen something otherwise they should get rid and save a wage.

He was cheap back up in the past and he was awful. Hopefully Alty may take him in Jan?

Altrincham lose 3-2 to Halifax Town with Alistair Smith playing the full game.

Former Donny Rovers and Rotherham player, Martin Woods (34), scores for Halifax.

Alistair's record for Altrincham is now P8 W6 D0 L2 which is still pretty good.

The lads done well at alty going off the match reports, results and feedback from altys fans forum.

Maybe this loan has made him and is now worth a good look under Clough in the second half of the season.

There's the 1 out. Slight mismatch in wages though  I suspect Qyinn costs more than Alistair Smith.

Been a big critic of Alistair when he’s played for us but fair play to him, he was loaned to a team who are at a good level and he’s obviously done well.

Shows what loans out can do for the club and player.
