I am Spartacus wrote:All, it with great sadness that I inform you that Alan Marshall, a fervent Stags fan all his life of 80 years passed away peacefully yesterday surrounded by his family.

Alan had a season ticket and sat in the West Stand upper behind the press positions though now watches us from on high with other passed Stags fans. He was a small unassuming chap, always happy and positive even in the bad times and always had time to talk football when you saw him. He was fortunate enough in his time to see the great Stags side of the 70’s, the Wembley side, promotion winning sides as well as what we are used to as Stags fans.

He was also a big follower of England and there aren’t many that at 70 odd years of age are trawling the pubs of Dublin at midnight looking for somewhere for a last drink following an England victory.

His greatest achievement as a Stags fan, could be that in this modern age, he raised two sons and a grandson that are ardent Stagsfans.

Rest In Peace Alan for you will be sorely missed.

Great epitaph, hope when I go I've earned such a tribute. He's another sad loss of our Stags faithful. Just the kind of fan we can ill afford to lose. RIP

Hi mate. I have attempted to upload a photo of my Grandad with my Dad however I am struggling to work out how to do it, I have attempted below. He had sat next to the second to last far left tunnel in the upper west stand since the new ground was built.

If someone could give me a few pointers on how to upload images that would be great, I would love to see how many people knew him or his face through supporting the same club over the years.

I thought I would probably recognise Alan from his photo and I do. I certainly said hello to him a few times.

May you rest in peace Alan.

RIP Alan.

I recognise him from the photo and have seen him occasionally at England away games. Such a shame to lose a true fan.

Sincere condolences old ram stag.

Thanks mate the funeral cars will hopefully be visiting the ground on route to the crem, it's the 5th Jan around 10 am but I'll have to confirm it's ok with the club first and then confirm, anyone would be welcome and appreciated to be there, as numbers are limited due to corona at the crematorium.

True gentlemen are hard to find, and it has just got that little bit harder. Anger, rudeness, selfishness, inconsiderate and words of their ilk were all missing from Alan's vocabulary. God, only knows how he managed it during a lifetime in the Amber Army.

Always upbeat and finding the good in all you will be sorely missed Alan. Forever Amber.

I recognise Alan now and have chatted to him about the Stags. He was a lovely man.

A very sad loss for the Blue & Amber Army. Rest in peace Alan.

The funeral of Alan Marshall will take place, this Tuesday, 5th January 10.15 am at Mansfield Crematorium. However due to restrictions relating to the pandemic only 30 people can attend and this will be family and close friend only.

Should anyone wanting to pay their respects following the passing of a loyal Stags fan the funeral cortège will be visiting Field Mill at 10 am. This will allow Alan one last visit to the place that has brought him so much joy, so many memories and was such a big part of his life. This has been arranged with the club and the club ask that to comply with Covid 19 requirements that all cars are not parked in the car park.

I know Alan would think it a great honour should any of his friends and fellow Stags fans visit the ground or think of him at 10.15 on Tuesday.
