Southend got their first win today, scoring the only goal of the match against Walsall in the 88th minute. Did their match finish before our’s?
It did. Southend and Scunny had three points in the bag before our game ended.
A draw would have been a step back in terms of the league table status but thankfully we held on.

Horrific. Ignored obvious fouls but gave niggly ones.

I was sure he'd end up giving them a penalty.

I can see a rating of either 4 or 5 coming up. Definitely not higher than 5.

Was that because the Southend game finished before ours.

Watched the highlights, good goals.... Cant wait to watch the full game tomorrow.
Charsley goal was a great strike with pace to beat the keeper and great placement.
It would have been hard to drop any of the midfielders after the last few games for ollie clark but he's got a chance now Maris is out.
Time to kick on and get more points on the board

Would be interested on views on Maynards disallowed goal. I real time it looked on side to me

Classic old school away performance that was....take your chances early on & ride the storm when the home team inevitably pile the pressure on.
Not many teams will leave Forest Green with all 3 points this season that's for sure!.
My only small negative (maybe I'm being harsh here?!) is that all our strikers do not look like scoring at the minute..
Cook: looks low on confidence & out of favour
Reid:doesn't look upto lg2 standard from what I've seen so far.
Maynard: seems to have lost afew yards since last season & doesn't look confident infront of goal anymore
Bowery: works like a trojan but can't finish... Sometimes plays more like a defensive midfielder than a forward.
Such a shame that Rose bailed out because I think he would worked well under cloughie.
Anyone else think we'll be in for a striker next Jan??

Thought exactly this. A firing, on form Maynard is unstoppable but at the minute he's not looking like he did last season. Maybe it's confidence? Looks like hes trying to "too hard" when he has a chance.
Basically, if Maynard isn't bagging the goals, we need someone to play his role and score

Maynard has had few decent chances (Newport and today's disallowed are the two I immediately think of) but he is beginning to look more fluent and things are beginning to come off.
He has had several air shots which is very unusual for him and so I suspect he is having to play himself into form and confidence. This 6 week period could see him bang on form by Jan but we need two goal scorers up front

from the video, Maynard appeared to have timed his run perfectly and was onside.

I also thought he was onside when the move was replayed during the match. Yet another poor decision by the officials in a match full of poor decisions.
If that had been allowed I think we would have scored again asit would have been game over.

Very surprised it was called offside. looked like he timed it to perfection.

True, from the half way line camera angle it did look like he was onside, but without a camera in line it is impossible to say with any certainty. It was very close but we are of course one eyed - it is very easy to slag off an Assistant Referee when you don't have the same view as he had, which was better than any of us.
I'm still to be convinced by Maynard I'm afraid, he was offside several times today and rarely presented a threat, it was another 6/10 for me, would much rather have Rose as his all round game was just better.

Brilliant result today, i screamed the house down when the second goal went in. and the relief at the final whistle, We worked hard has a team, but come under a lot of pressure in defending the lead, Against Sunderland and today we just whacked the ball anywhere inviting more pressure, im sure Clough will work on this, Now is the time to reflect on the positives and enjoy a week of satisfaction.

Definitely looked onside on replay but with the officials we had no surprise it was called offside

Agree 100% about Maynard, he’s short of pace and appears to be snatching at his chances although the way he finished the disallowed goal shows there’s still a player there, he needs to improve quickly as he is the main goal threat from the forwards, Bowery for all his effort and workrate just doesn’t pose a goal threat

I think he will go after a striker in Jan, someone with a bit of pace, probably Cook/Reid to make way.
Regarding Maynard he does need to sharpen up and fast, his best game was against Walsall where he played CAM, he seems to be snatching at chances, not showing his usual composure.

He had two good attempts yesterday, he didn't quite connect with the overhead, which would have been a great finish and he had what looked, from the camera angle like a perfectly good goal ruled out.
One of those chances registers and this conversation isn't happening.

best real chance he's had this season was one of the most composed finishes you'll see.
