Mansfield Town Stats
Defensive stats are ok and we are doing ok for aerial duals won and dribbles but passing stats are not good. Defensive stats are probably good because we have had to defend more due to not dominating possession. We've only dominated possession once (just) against Tranmere (51%)

Total Shots: 12.8 (9th)
Attack Sides: Left 33%, Centre 28%, Right 39%

Possession: 47.1% 19th
`
Pass Success %: 62.7% 22nd
Total passes: 20th, Accurate Short Passes: 21st, Accurate Long Passes: 16th
Key Passes: 12th

Unsuccessful Touches: 13th, Dispossessed: 14th

Pass Type: Crosses: 17th, Long Balls: 19th, Short Passes: 20th

Aerial Duals Won: 3rd
Dribbles: 5th=

Defence
Shots Conceded: 11th best, Shots Blocked: 5th, Crosses Blocked: 6th, Clearances 5th

Does expected goals take into account we have Mr scuff it up front?

Not very often we are on the same page but totally with you on this one. The only stats that matter are how many goals we score compared to our opponents, and where we are in the league table.
All these 'expected goals' and other such rubbish mean nothing. A decent coach can see what is happening on the pitch without all this statistical nonsense.
The only statistician a football club needs is for history purposes, not coaching.

I feel like I say this every time the debate arises, but it’s not there to aid coaches or influence tactics or anything like that, it’s simply a performance indicator.

You’ve just been on another thread Dave where you’ve pretty much said that performances have been better than results. But in this thread, where xG and xP literally shows that performances have been better than results, you say it’s statistical nonsense

No I didnt say it's nonsense, I said it is unnecessary as a good coach can see that without the need for spreadsheets and algorithms.

What an absolute crock of manure, does the xG table mean you don't go into the pit of misery?

Not very often we are on the same page but totally with you on this one. The only stats that matter are how many goals we score compared to our opponents, and where we are in the league table.
All these 'expected goals' and other such rubbish mean nothing. A decent coach can see what is happening on the pitch without all this statistical nonsense.
The only statistician a football club needs is for history purposes, not coaching.

Are you sure that’s not what you said? Is this Ben Bradley’s Stagsnet account?

I have Dave, it doesn’t help you out. You’ll be going on about context next

The point is, that no coach uses it to help their tactics or coaching. It’s a performance indicator, and does the same job as you saying the performances have been better than the results.
