Hes gone stale here, he was in team of season and I think he thought he should be playing higher after that, I think he is in the same boat as CJ and Rose ie if there wasn't an extension he wouldn't be here and I think his performances have showed that.

I do think we will bring a winger in today though.

If Steve Evans can get the likes of Macca, Mellis and Oliver working well in a L1 team Benning is definitely good enough.

I think David Flitcroft managed the players pretty well & they were a happy bunch. It's a shame that he could not quite get them over the line, as the future was here for DF & that team.

Great player who’s lost a bit of confidence. It would be daft to let him go and other teams would snap him up quickly.

Seems like GCs idea of a decent player is lower std than what we are used to but he’s only going on how they’ve played recently...which is skewing his decisions IMO

The net result is that we have lost a decent side with good players all low on confidence and poorly managed to gain a side of players with less quality but a bit more motivation but still poorly managed

It’s no coincidence that most of the players that have left are playing and doing well in L1! We seem to have dropped a few notches in quality signing conference /L2 players

Steve Evans has confirmed that Gillingham have missed out on a signing today as the other club concerned have missed out on their preferred replacement.

Could this be Mal and a reason we’ve not seen any incoming so far?

Seems like to some there is no middle ground ,he a failure in their eyes ,lets see what happens in the next couple of months,personally i still have faith in him ,which i dont feel i have to justify .

Would be a bit of a surprise if Evans was interested in Benning.

In the season Evans left, he started Johnny Hunt at left back 16 times in the league, and Benning 17 starts. He wasn’t a clear starter but he won him over by the end, earning a new deal on the day Evans left.
