Or Paul Cook, either would be great appointments for a league 2 side.

I'd imagine cooks wages would be huge

And he'd probably want to rebuild our squad

It’s a good job for GC that JR doesn’t sack a manager with poor results. Graham Alexander has a good win ratio

Incredibly harsh decision when you put it like that.

Paul Cook now odds on to take the drop to league 2 that ‘he’ll never do ’ and take the Salford job.

I never thought Steve Evans would be in league two when he was at Leeds and that happened, money talks and so do clubs with good setups and infrastructure.

Exactly. If he goes to Salford it wouldn’t have been out of the question for him to come here considering his relationship with Sharpe.

There’s a big difference in Salford and us, IMO.

They’ve got the lure of the class of 92 and everything that comes with it for sure, and if it’s another manager then they are a more attractive proposition.. but with Cook he may have found it ideal to work for somebody he knows and trusts. We’re not short of a bob or two either and we’re all capped to the same budgets now. I think we could have competed for him for sure if we were to have found ourself in that position. He may not have come here, but I think we’d have stood a chance personally if that move to Salford does materialise.

Salford may have big wages and a lot of backing but it’s well known how amateurish it is behind the scenes, they have nothing like the infrastructure in comparison to Mansfield.

Quite a few players have gone their and found that out, including Matt Green and Nathan Arnold although admittedly he joined when they were still non-league.

Our problem is we never have more than 1 day without a manager. They sack one in one breathe and appoint another in the next....

When was the last time we actually took a step back and appointed one after a good search and interview process?

Cox i suspect....
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Richie Wellens drops down from Swindon Town in League 1 to take over as Salford City manager in League 2 to try and win a second successive League 2 promotion.

Oldham Athletic: P43 W14 D16 L13 (Win Rate: 32.6%)
Swindon Town: P83 W35 D17 L31 (Win Rate: 42.2%)

Swindon are quite good at picking managers and getting compensation. They have done that with David Flitcroft and Richie Wellens.

Paul Tisdale or Steve Cotterill or Lee Johnson or Gary Johnson or Darrell Clarke for Swindon manager? (SW connections)
