Newport had nearly 70% possession according to iFollow!

Newport had far, far more possession than us - but most of it has been harmless. Having said that they clearly have a game plan which is working far better than ours.
Reid and Maynard are clearly more mobile than Cook and Bowery but have the impossible task of closing down the entire Newport back line.

Midfield options off the bench look incredibly weak tbh.

Well.
As a whole Newport are better with the ball than us. Better off the ball than us. More mobile than us.
We did OK as a whole by virture we haven't conceded yet.
Hoping for an improvement second half.

HT: Newport County 0 Mansfield Town 0
Newport have been the better side and have dominated possession. Their back three of Brandon Cooper, Matty Dolan and Mickey Demetriou look more comfortable on the ball and Matty Dolan has brought the ball forward well from the centre of defence. Brandon Cooper on loan from Swansea City looks very good. Ryan Haynes has been their main threat down the right and has got four crosses in. Corey O'Keeffe needs to try and get some blocks in.
The Stags look like they are happy sat deeper and waiting for Newport to try and break through them and then possibly go for a counter attack. Mansfield's only attack was when Corey O'Keeffe cleared a Newport corner which resulted in Nicky Maynard slooting the ball through to George Maris. He cut inside Josh Sheehan but Nick Townsend dived to his left to push Maris' shot away.
Newport have had two chances with Aiden Stone pushing away shots from Mickey Demitriou and Scott Twine.
I like that when James Perch gets the ball in midfield he plays the ball forward on the floor. George Maris has given the ball away too much again and Jamie Reid has lost possession three times. Great turn by Nicky Maynard in the 46th minute but he ballooned his shot well over the ball.
Corey O'Keeffe needs to get tighter to Ryan Haynes at the back and get some blocks in. Stephen McLaughlin has been better at this. Rollin Menayese has made some good tackles and won his headers but made one error. Farrend Rawson has been heading the ball away at the back as usual with his no nonsense defending. Ryan Sweeney has been steady so far. I think he's only tried one long diagonal ball to date.

Started second half well, better touch by Reid and he would have a golden opportunity to score.

At last someone who can challenge Benning for his spot, so far McCoughlan is far better, Benning will have a job getting back in the team.

Reid’s touch has been poor thus far.

I’d look at bringing Cook on - can’t believe he didn’t start to be honest.

I have a feeling he'll bring Bowery on before Cook. Just a feeling.

We’ve looked better second half. Need to get the ball into Maynard’s feet as much as possible.

Continue to get nothing. Interesting how quickly and easily I can pay but can't find any where that I can complain!

Agreed... I think we'd be dangerous with a flat back 4 and two proper wingers

Reid's was too close to the keeper, whereas Maynard was so unlucky. Real skill to open up his body so I suppose that is down to a great save.
So frustrating
