5 0 Loss I think tomorrow.

With their keeper sat on a deck chair with an umbrella watching the game day dreaming of getting a kick.

probably oughta take his fishin gear n umbrella. He'd probably have more chance of something to catch as RP slowly floods.

03/10/20: Newport County v Mansfield Town

Mansfield have won five and drawn five out of 19 games against both the old and new Newport County teams away from home at Somerton Park, Spytty Park and Rodney Parade. (P19 W5 D5 L9.)

Adam Murray takes pride of place for Mansfield managers who have won away at Newport with two wins. The other successful managers were Ian Greaves, Danny Williams and Raich Carter.

Mansfield wins are as follows:
2016-2017 Newport County 2 Mansfield Town 3 (Matt Green, Danny Rose and Kevan Hurst)
2014-2015 Newport County 0 Mansfield Town 1 (Reggie Lambe)
1986-1987 Newport County 0 Mansfield Town 3 (John Moore*, Keith Cassells and Mark Kearney)
1972-1973 Newport County 0 Mansfield Town 1 (John Fairbrother)
1959-1960 Newport County 0 Mansfield Town 1 (Lindy Delapenha)**

*This was John Moore’s only goal for the Stags in 5 league appearances. He was signed on loan from Sunderland.
**Lindy Delapenha was the first black player to play for the Stags.

Players who have played for both clubs: Matt Green, Tom Naylor, Kevin Kent, Neville Chamberlain, Mick Vinter, Dai Jones, Otis Khan, Adam Chapman, Rob Duffy, Aaron O’Connor, Mitch Rose, Jon Challinor, Kyle Howkins, Jefferson Louis, Lenny Pidgeley, Roddy Collins, John Moore, Alan Waddle, Glyn Thompson, Walter Akers, Fred Flanders, Terence Melling, Tommy Pritchard

Great stats from Svante (Sweden Stag)

Sorry OWS but I don’t see us that way. We may not be far off a mid table team but are light years away from top three candidates. Our main assets at the moment are endeavour and confidence. If we were to suffer another two or three defeats or go another five without a win, that confidence would be gone for months and put us in real danger.

I want some pace in the team and then I may agree that we are getting there but until we get some I’m worried.

On or off?

Pitch inspection at all?

Newport Line Up?

Nick Townsend
Brandon Cooper (Kyle Howkins), Matt Dolan, Mickey Demetriou
Liam Shephard, Josh Labadie, Josh Sheehan, Scott Twine, Ryan Haynes
Ryan Taylor, Tristan Abrahams

Other possible starters: Robbie Wilmott, Saikou Janneh, Padraig Amond

I have been impressed with the two Newport wing backs from the highlights this season, Ryan Haynes and Liam Shephard. Liam Shephard originally had better offers from other clubs but they then pulled out because they said loan players were cheaper. He comes from South wales and his Dad played for Newport County in non-league (Gary Shephard). Scott Twine has also done well in midfield on loan from Swindon Town. Josh Sheehan is a quality midfield player. Joss Labadie is always competitive. Tristan Abrahams has scored 6 goals this season (2 in the league and 4 in the league cup).

Newport seem to be playing a bit more football this season with Matty Dolan playing in the back three and bringing the ball out from the back.

Will the Stags play it on the floor more (Tranmere) or smash it long to Andy Cook (Exeter)? Can they defend better at set pieces?

I'd assume Stech is injured.

That many changes seems a bit panicky to me. I guess we'll know come 5pm.

Feel for Charsley and Cook. I'd have started Charsley over Maris.
