Gillingham 1 Coventry 1 (Gillingham won 5-4 on penalties)

Jacob Mellis came on at half time and scored his penalty. Alex MacDonald was subbed after 62 minutes when Gillingham were 1-0 down. Gillingham equalised in the 94th minute when Vadaine Oliver was brought down for a penalty.

HT: Leyton Orient 0 Plymouth Argyle 2

Watching this on Orient TV.

Orient lined up 4-3-3 against Plymouth's 3-5-2. Orient made the early running and Jordan Thomas shot wide, Jordan Maguire Drew had a shot saved and then shot wide after Camara gave the ball away; and Ruel Sotiriou had a shot deflected wide. Ruel Sotiriou has made good runs forward down the right. It has been a very open game and Plymouth wing backs, Byrom Moore and George Cooper, had loads of space and Danny Mayor started to run the show with his runs forward. Ryan Hardie dribbled into the area and his shot was saved by Lawrence Vigouroux but it bounced back to Camara who fired home. Ryan Hardie then hit the bar with a left foot shot. Danny Mayor then went on one of his trademark runs forward and he casually laid the ball out to his left where Kelland Watts was overlapping him running into the area and Watts smashed the ball home. Sotiriou then squirmed into the area and hit the bar. Plymouth then should have scored a couple more goals as Telford had a couple of shots saved and George Cooper shot wide. Lee Angol is up front for Orient and has had a couple of blocked shots. MOM so far is Danny Mayor for Plymouth and Ruel Sotiriou for Orient.

Orient having a blinder.

Better watch out for these.

Orient will be on a massive high on Saturday, especially after the fashion of tonight’s win to set up a tie against Tottenham. Is it 4 wins from 4 for them now in all comps? Going to be a tough game.

FT: Leyton Orient 3 Plymouth Argyle 2
Possession: 35%:65%
Shots: 21:26

Fantastic second half comeback by Orient although Plymouth had a couple of chances at the start of the 2nd half to make it 3-0. Kelland Watts smashed a shot over the bar and Dom Telford dribbled into the area but shot narrowly wide of the far post from a tight angle. Plymouth should have been out of sight. Josh Coulson then went off injured and was replaced by James Brophy. Joe Widdowson moved to centre half and Brophy played at left back. Orient then took over the game. Jobi McAnuff was interviewed on Orient TV after the game and he said the plan was to push higher up the pitch and stop Plymouth playing through them. Ruel Sotiriou (20) was very dangerous on the right and he dribbled into the area and had a couple of shots saved. Mal Benning and Ryan Sweeney will need to watch him closely on Saturday. Jordan Maguire Drew then crossed to the far post and Louis Dennis volleyed home to get Orient back in the game.

James Dayton came on for Louis Dennis and it was then all Orient. Sotiriou had another shot saved and 19 year old right back Jordan Thomas played a ball over the top to 38 year old Jobi McAnuff running through on goal who chipped the advancing keeper. 2-2 McAnuff had had a fairly quiet game until then. Dan Johnson replaced Lee Angol on 75 minutes and both sides went for it to the final whistle. Jordan Maguire Drew had a shot saved in the 90th minute before Scott Wootton made a complete hash of trying to clear the ball on the right in the 93rd minute and allowed Dan Johnson to run through on goal and score in his 6th consecutive game. Orient will play Tottenham Hotspur at home in the next round

A very entertaining open game. Plymouth will be kicking themselves as they could easily have been 3 or 4-0 up. Orient will be full of confidence for the game against the Stags on Saturday.

MOM: Ruel Sotiriou and Danny Mayor (1st Half)/Mike Cooper

Leyton Orient (4-3-3)
Lawrence Vigouroux
Jordan Thomas, Jamie Turley, Josh Coulson (James Brophy), Joe Widdowson
Josh Wright, Jobi McAnuff, Louis Dennis (James Dayton)
Ruel Sotiriou, Jordan Maguire Drew, Lee Angol (Dan Johnson)

Plymouth Argyle (3-5-2)
Mike Cooper
Will Aimson, Scott Wootton, Kelland Watts
Byron Moore, Danny Mayor, Lewis MacLeod (Conor Grant), Panutche Camara, George Cooper (Joe Edwards)
Ryan Hardie, Dom Telford (Frank Nouble)

Let’s hope they’ll be knackered and have a few injuries for Saturday!

Orient manager, Ross Embleton, said they had to leave some players out due to illness and injury. He said Josh Coulson was ill which was the reason they subbed him. He nearly did not play. They changed their formation in the 2nd half to stop Danny Mayor. Hopefully they will go back to their Oldham team on Saturday and leave Ruel Sotiriou, Jordan Maguire Drew and Jobi McAnuff on the bench.

How long has Gary Barlow been Salford manager.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
