Salford City 1 Preston North End 3 (HT: 1-2)

Watched this game on You Tube. Salford had beat Lincoln 2-1 on Tuesday. Preston were playing their first friendly of the season although they finished their Championship season off in June and July finishing 9th. PNE will play the Stags in the League Cup next Saturday. Preston went 2-0 up with goals in the 24th and 28th minute. Sean Maguire crossed from the left, Daniel Johnson’s shot was blocked and Scott Sinclair stabbed the ball home. Daniel Johnson then crossed the ball from the left for Billy Bodin to score. Ashley Hunter pulled a goal back by Salford.

Preston changed all 11 players on 60 minutes and scored a lovely goal near the end when Ben Pearson played in Brad Potts on the right and he crossed for Josh Harrop to score. Preston have massive strength in depth so whatever team they put out next Saturday will pose a massive challenge for the Stags.

Ashley Hunter looked lively for Salford but their defence needs to improve.

PNE Starting XI:
Connor Ripley
Alan Browne, Patrick Bauer, Jordan Storey, Andrew Hughes,
Ryan Ledson, Daniel Johnson, Tom Bayliss,
Billy Bodin, Sean Maguire, Scott Sinclair

After 60 Minutes
Matthew Hudson,
Joe Rafferty, Paul Huntington, Ben Davies, Josh Earl
Brad Potts, Ben Pearson, Paul Gallagher, Josh Harrop,
Jayden Stockley, Tom Barkhuizen

Salford City
Nick Hayes
Oscar Threlkeld, Tom Clarke (Jordan Turnbull), Ashley Eastham, Ibou Touray
Richie Towell, Darron Gibson (Bruno Andrade), Jason Lowe
Ashley Hunter
Brandon Thomas Asante, Ian Henderson

Willem Tomlinson played for Accrington in the above match.

Oldham also beat Forest’s first team 2-0 at Forest’s academy!

Wigan Athletic 5 Bolton Wanderers 1
Bolton Scorer: Nathan Delfouneso

Wanderers (3-4-1-2): Alexander; Brockbank, Senior (Taft 56), Delaney (Santos 56); Hickman (Jones 56), Trialist (Sarcevic 56), White (Comley 56), Mascoll (Gordon 56); Crawford (Darcy 46); Trialist, Delfouneso (King-Harmes 46).

Ian Evatt reaction: “We were poor, there’s no two ways about it. There were a number of people who said to me they needed more minutes and that they had been itching to play during pre-season, where we had set a high standard. And they didn’t do that. This has been a rude awakening. It is not acceptable, pre-season or otherwise.”

Imagine if we'd suffered a pre season defeat like this. We'd all be calling for GC to be sacked and slitting wrists.

Yet Bolton lose 5-1 our supporters will still be predicting they will win the league by march.

Tranmere Rovers 1 Preston North End 1

Preston started off with the same team that played the last 30 minutes at Salford. They have dominated the game and took took the lead on 31 minutes after Brad Potts won back possession and played in Tom Barkhuizen. A minute earlier Jayden Stockley hit the post with a header from a deflected Joe Rafferty cross. Manny Monthe headed wide early on from a corner for Tranmere and Otis Khan blasted a shot miles over the bar. HT: 0-1

Preston continued to dominate the game in the 2nd half but did not have a cutting edge. They then gifted Tranmere two glorious chances. Stefan Payne was clean through on goal but Connor Ripley saved well. Billy Bodin then attempted a back pass from deep in Tranmere's half and sold Connor Ripley well short. Stefan Payne nipped in, rounded Connor Ripley who was well out of his area and walked the ball into the net. FT: 1-1

there entire teams no better than average league two apart from Doyle and Sarcevic.

Like ive said previously with Doyle you could get 30 goals a season doyle or 5 goals a season doyle.
