Isn’t that something that’s happened for years though?

We probably *wanted* to permanently sign players like Tyler Walker or Ben Whiteman, couldn’t afford them so we signed them on loan. They did well with us and their parent team get the benefit.

I think that's one reason why higher league clubs loan their youngsters out.

No chance of them playing in their first team so bring them on elsewhere, everybody's happy.

We didn’t sign the two you mentioned because it was obvious they were going to end up playing higher in the pyramid, the parent clubs, and probably the player themselves would have never wanted to sign permanently.

A salary cap is being suggested by some National League clubs including the Spireites, Daggers, AFC Fylde, Sutton United, Ebbsfleet, Maidstone and Boreham Wood.

They have suggested a salary cap of £900,000 for the National League and £700,000 for National League North and South.

National League clubs get around £90,000 per season as a solidarity payment. The relegated clubs will have the parachute payments for two seasons of around £450,000.

League 2 clubs receive around £950,000 from the Premier League and EFL.

Pete Wild, Halifax manager, says there are at least eight teams whose budgets are way over £900,000. I'd go for Notts County, Chesterfield, Yeovil, Hartlepool, Solihull Moors, Wrexham, Barnet and Stockport County (Harrogate? AFC Fylde?).

Wrexham budget is around the 900k mark, so it’s at a natural level they can pretty much afford so be great news for them

No, because we couldn't ever afford Walker or Whiteman.... where as this lad we could but because of the cap and being 23 he will have to be loaned if we were to get him.

For me, the cap is the perfect opportunity to start spending less on wages and more on transfer fees for players under a certain age.

Hopefully George Maris and Rollin Menayese are a sign of things to come.

Read in the NLP that Wrexham's budget last season (including travel and staff costs) was round £1.25 million and that it has been reduced to £970,000 for this season which is still very high for a National League club with no crowds.
