We have had delight watching the demise of the sheep over the last few seasons.
Watching them fall through the Dilly Dilly trap door into the pit of non league misery :D .

Now gets even better with the council having them by the short and curlies

Now to be known as the Chesterfield district council football club

Anyone else see that tweet that said there are bigger clubs in the Conference (County and Chesterfailed) than in the Championship (Bournemouth and Wycombe).

Mental.

Not the ideal time to be taking over a football club.

Even if the "not a penny more" stayaways want to return, they could be prevented by covid 19 restrictions in crowd numbers.

As the are now part owned by the Council are they on a par with the MDC NALGO side that played in the Sunday League in the late ‘80’s?

I’ve got a feeling that they haven’t even hit rock bottom yet

They must have a business plan, but I doubt it’s based on COVID restricted attendances.

And without someone with proper financial clout behind them, I think you’re spot on.

A couple of issues with this.
1) They are not part owned by the Council - they have been loaned money by the council. As long as they pay it back as per the agreed terms and conditions the Council has no call on the club or control over it.
2) I would guess that the MDC NALGO side was purely members of MDC staff who were also members of the union and the side was funded by NALGO rather than MDC.

Love the comparison to a Sunday League side though.

They will have known about the covid19 situation for some time now, so I guess they have plans. Not the best time for taking over a football club.
I think the new owners have a press conference today.

Dave, lighten up. You don’t have to suck the joy out of everything relates to MDC. If anyone took that light hearted quip about the Church Benders being an equal to a former Sunday league side seriously, then they have been sat outside in the sun far too long.

Good luck to the Spireite fans and volunteers who will own and run the club. It is probably the worst time ever to take over the running of a football club with large outgoings but the pandemic may mean more supporters have to come forward to try and save their local clubs.

They need to keep their feet on the floor and avoid making big promises. They also need to keep a tight grip on the purse strings. The immediate aim should just be survival and remaining in the National League. Give themselves a couple of seasons to work out the lay of the land.......(my son).

They are hoping to get financial support from Bolsover District Council, according to the Derbyshire Times article. :o

Listening and watching that I am sure every Chesterfield supporter is thinking that the club could not be in safer hands.

They have still got three years to serve in the pit of misery though.

Money on them to get relegated???

Read about the board members, they've got no experience running a football club have they?

No money either? Not really been paying much attention but surely they're in more of a mess now
