I’m hearing he’s gone to Chester City for an undisclosed fee?

If true he will be a big asset (no pun intended) in that league.

Be pleasantly surprised if we can get him off the wage bill, surely they can’t afford his wages at that level though?

Would be surprised to see him drop to NLN level - he is better than that.
Strange one with Cook. Can score a goal out of nothing and can be a nightmare for defenders but just hasn’t worked out how we thought it would even though his goal return is actually pretty decent. 7 goals from 23 apps (league) but only 10 starts isn’t too shabby. He’s scored a few of them coming off the bench so not a bad option to have but don’t think he will be happy with not starting and he doesn’t seem to be a Coughlan type player.
If it’s a case of letting Cook go to make way for a proven striker say, then so be it. Expected him to depart this summer.

We already need another striker Cook , Bowery, Rose are very similar players to what they bring to the team , my guess is we are still looking for our No1 striker no manager will surely rely on a non league rookie being your main goal scorer ?? We need to offload cook 1st even if it’s on a season long loan with the club not contributing to his wages..

From the sounds of it, Maynard wants to play at league one because he's not got long left and if we paid him what he wanted we'd be over our wage threshold. I'd have him back if we could get cook off, but not the smartest thing to do to go bust on Maynard.

Simply don't believe he will go to the Conference North.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Their fans had to raise a substantial amount of money for them to take part in the playoffs to pay for testing etc. The players also played for free. I doubt they’d have the finances required to take Cook personally.

Can’t see Cook dropping that low unless the wages are very good and just can’t see how Maynard thinks he will play at league one level next season. Lots of players are going to have to lower their expectations atm. Better players than Maynard will get those pickings. Can’t fault him for trying though but can see him starting league 2 when it comes to the crunch. If he could finish one in ones maybe!

There is no threshold yet, and if he is signed before one is set then his wage would only count at £1,300pw or £67,600pa, (the average wage) for the length of his contract.

He meant self imposed threshold. GC said in his interview he has an amount in mind as to what’s he’s worth and he won’t go higher.

Andy Cook is said to have signed for the Stags for a £150,000 transfer fee on a 2 year contract. He also signed from a League 1 club. We were said to be paying Forest £5,000 per week for Tyler Walker the previous season when we just missed out on promotion. We were still going for it last season with the signings of Andy Cook and Nicky Maynard. I'm guessing that Cook's wages must be in the £4,000-£5,000 per week bracket. Strikers are always paid the biggest wages. There is no way that Chester in National League North who I think are still owned by the fans can afford those wages unless they have sold up to a multi-millionaire.

If Cooks on £4,000 p/w something even worse than i can imagine happened at field mill last summer.
Id guess Cook is on no more than £2,000 a week. Maynard is the likely candidate to be earning closer to what Walker was on.

4k a week, think some people are living in dreamland?
If that was to be the case Cook, will sit and warm our bench all season becaus there isn't anyone who would pay him that amount these days or IMO ever?
