Danny and Nicky Cowley have done a great job to keep Huddersfield up. He and his brother will be walking away with a fortune like Nathan Jones at Stoke City. They will probably not need to work again but they will easily get another job. They can always return to Lincoln City after Michael Appleton moves to Bristol City.

This looks like Huddersfield trying to cut their expenditure. They still have Premier League players on mega-buck contracts although should have 3 more seasons of Premier League parachute money.

"Huddersfield, who went down from the Premier League last term, say they are "not seeking applications" for the job.
"We have made this decision in the belief that, in the long term, it is in the best interests of the club as we move forward," said chairman Phil Hodgkinson. "We have a different vision for the way we operate the club, and how our ambitions can be achieved."

It clearly wasn’t done on their performance, they’ve done a great job there

It’s quickly became apparent that it was based on finances.

I'd imagine their remit was to keep Huddersfield up, then rebuild and go again in the summer. Think they've got players on huge contracts from the premiership and struggled to get rid of them.

You could put money on them going back to Lincoln at some point

They were bottom of the division with no wins when they took over, they’ve kept them up and beat West Brom the other day, yeah they have done a great job.

Southend, Colchester, Birmingham, Bristol City

Rumoured Bristol city wanted Appleton, the Cowley's would definitely go back to gimps if Appleton left

both still live in Lincoln, kids in schools etc, whoever it is cannot see them going far, they must be laughing their bits off with the contract they were on.

There are a few available. Further than that ambitious club owners will make jobs available.

They could move back home if they wanted to go for the Colchester or Sarfend jobs although I doubt either club could afford them even with their big payoff.

As much as I dislike them, they have done ok in an almost impossible situation.

No budget to work with, Premiership prima donnas on big wages and zero motivation, and morale at rock bottom when they arrived.

I suspect they’ll soon find another club and happily bank the compo.

I went to the game at Hillsborough last week and I was surprised at how different they were. They had the odd tantrum at the ref and 4th official but it wasn’t as relentless as it was when they were at Lincoln. Also the football they played was better. There was a lot of possession and a lot of passing along the floor. They created some good chances and arguably should’ve won the game when Fraizer Campbell blazed over from 6 yards near the end. That’s why this decision shocked me a lot more than it should’ve.

I listened to the radio Nottingham report following Forests game at Huddersfield while on the way home from a Stags game. The ex player doing the post match made no attempt to hide his feelings regarding Huddersfields tactics. Basically said it was effective and they were climbing the league but people should not have to watch it. One tactic ,constantly playing for free kicks to overload the penalty area ,that's it ,nothing else ,Huddersfield owners and fans could not possibly want to watch that every week and if the Cowleys did not change their style of play once they were safe then they would probably be sacked.

Posters on here are correct ,they will get another position very soon and if successful some will think they are doing a good job . Personally I would like to see them have every coaching qualification rescinded on the grounds of cruelty to football fans everywhere.
