Just seen that Cambridge has released their retain list for this season already with players free from June, wonder if many other clubs will follow suit or how it works if the season does has to be finish

Most teams at this level won't retain anybody unless still inder contract.

Sadly I can see it being like this for a good while. Until we know exactly how things are going to work and clubs can review their business model they will be doing everything possible to not go bust, we know many are close!

There’s not many we’d want to keep in the first place tbh

Really can't see this season finishing so it's a good job GC has seen enough of what we have to make informed choices .

About the same, though Maynard might go and I’d maybe stick with Danny - he’s annoying AF but has proven he can do it and might be invaluable next season (if there is one)

Think you’ll have to be a bit more realistic, there’s no way there going to leave themselves 6 or 7 players, especially when 2 or 3 of them have barely played any games. Not through choice anyway. It may end up like that with players rejecting new deals.

Under normal circumstances, I’d agree with you, but the whole dynamics of squads are going to change from now on. Might only have 18 pros and the rest made up of kids/cheap loans next season.

I am just worried that clubs will only able to survive by being taking over by Premier League clubs and will be actual EPL ‘B’ teams in all but name.

There is a new reality coming for sure.
First of all I would keep Danny Rose as I think he is made for GC's style of play.
In terms of the squad and contracts I think that's a very difficult one. The face that some clubs have announced their retained lists already distorts any resumption of competitions. I suspect the retained lists this time will include those not good enough and those who are paid a lot. I'm not too concerned about players turning contracts down - where are they going to go?
I'm convinced a wage cap will be introduced and depending on where that is set will determine whether of not money will have a big impact.
I think this is now about survival and its fair to say some won't survive. I can't see how those struggling before this wont be on the brink now.
I personally can't see crowds back at matches this year and if you think through the requirement for socially distancing I think in the near term the days of big away followings have gone.
I don't know what things will look like in the future but I'm convinced they will be very different certainly at our level.
The important thing is that everyone stays safe and whatever the future brings we're all here to see it.

I would keep
Stone
Pearce
Sweeney
Benning
Clarke
Hamilton
Gordon
Tomlinson
Charsley
McDonald
Rose
Maynard
Knowles
Would like to keep White but massive injury concern so it depends on the money. Similar with Riley. If it was one or the other then I'd have White.
I'd like to see a commited and fit Andy Cook, but not sure if that's realistic
50/50 on Preston. If we get last season's Preston then he's good, this season's was really poor. I think Coughlin has already decided that he is going though.
I haven't given up on this squad yet just think they were not prepared properly this season and were unlucky with some key players injured last season.
Sad that Khan didn't work out for us, because I thought he was going to be a world beater when he came in.

I'd like to keep him, but wouldn't be panicking if we lost him. I think he's replaceable.
I'd be more disappointed in losing Rose, who lacks Maynard's finesse, but presses to ball better and wind free kicks - both of which for Coughlins style
