No teams relegated league 1.
No teams relegated league 2.
1 side promoted league 2 (covers Bury place)
1 side promoted non league (not county)
Cheaterfield demoted.

That's what I would do anyway.

Notts are clutching at straws by writing to the powers that be, giving there fans false hope, and generally tripping over their bottom lips.

They’ve obviously a lot to learn about the National League fax based, wrong training top, management system.

So why did they dig their pitch up then?

It would serve them right if they were told to play their trophy match next week behind closed doors with a stipulation that they must play the home leg on their own pitch. If the ground is not available they should be expelled from the competition.

Typical County think everything revolves around them and they should have everything given to them whether they deserve it or not.

Their displeasure is based on the fact they believe the non-league and EFL should make decisions on this in tandem due to "intrinsic links", but then don't explain what those are.

It's quite clear that they've still not go it and gone through any form of self-acceptance - the Conference is the abyss, you are forgotten about, and are nowhere near being talked about in the same sentence as the EFL.

The only intrinsic link is the one in their head.

There are quite a few articles in the paper all on the same subject (hardly surprising) and a wide variety of standpoints across the whole spectrum. It's easy to see why there is so much divided opinion and just about all of the clubs are putting their own situation first.

It's not going to be easy to come up with a scenario enabling promotion/relegation and the longer it goes the more likely the season will be null and void.

One article that did raise a chuckle was a bit on County digging their pitch up. Despite removing the turf they insist the pitch will be ready to play on as soon as it is necessary even in a couple of weeks.

There are a variety of various articles all purporting to the same end that is professional football is fundamentally flawed as a business and needs a reset along modern realistic lines. This is a, regretfully, a time to do so.

It is a more of a revolution of pace required, not from within the EFL but from without. Possibly led by the Minister for Culture and Sport. Don’t leave it to the EFL or Premier League, for one is about to sanction the sale of a club linked to a regime that Amnesty International questions and the other allowed a dodgy Greek bloke to be a fit and proper person, though for some reason he isn’t classed as that in his own country.

We only have one chance, please those that are in a position to influence. Don’t blow it.

Idealistic yes, most definitely. But if you don’t seize this chance now when can you have wholesale changes.

Oh, by the way Greta is an Environmental Activist and has nothing to do with football. Do you have a lot in common with her?

The National League has asked clubs to share their views on whether it would be feasible to play the playoffs. The games would take place behind closed doors when safe to do so. Teams have been given until Friday to register their opinions.

BBC
The National League has written to its clubs to invite them to share their views on the feasibility of continuing with the play-offs. A deadline of this Friday has been set for clubs to bring forward ideas to determine how they end the season.

The National League board will have the final decision and it is set to meet again early next week. The English Football League is still working on the basis of two teams being promoted into League Two. However, it emerged last Friday that if the EFL does not finish its season, then Stevenage are likely to avoid relegation, with only one team coming up from the National League.

So no promotion for County or relegation for the sheep.

That shouldn't make much difference if the EFL decide not to relegate any teams throughout the divisions. If the season cannot be finished (as seems increasingly likely) I just can't see how they can justify promotions/relegations even on a points per game basis.

From BBC Radio Nottingham

The National League have told Notts County and the rest of the clubs that "It is quite possible that the promotion place for a play-off winner could be jeopardised".

That could happen if matches in League Two are not completed. Clubs are set to decide whether to try to hold play-offs, and they've also been offered three options to decide how final league placings should be decided:

1) Expunge all results
2) Leave positions as they were at the cancellation of the rest of the league season
3) Use a mathematical formula, to be agreed by the FA.

A final decision is expected early next week.

Basically, no matter what the clubs in the NL want, no decision can be made until the EFL has decided what it is doing, and the chances are that the EFL is waiting for a decision from the Premier league.
Whether they like it or not, Clownty and the Cheats have to accept that they are a long way down the pecking order now and their future is out of their hands.
