What do you mean "poor old county" ! Poor old Barrow you mean.

At the moment it's only speculation.

Obviously with all that's going off at the moment football is way down the list.

What they should do, if they decide this years National League is null and void, is to promote Barrow to EFL. They could easily do it as there is a place available because of Bury's demise.

The National League have asked the FA to pull the plug and I can't see how they will not agree. It was voted on via a conference call yesterday and it is because the players contracts end in May.

It is debatable that only Barrow could be promoted as that would mean either the National League run a team short or there is one promotion from the two regional leagues.

Logic says that you can't have a mixed system for the pyramid so Barrow will miss out and league 1 will have 23 teams again when football restarts.

Why should Barrow go up instead of Stevenage remaining in the league?

Stevenage would remain in the league. Due to Bury's demise there is one less team in the EFL. If the EFL decided that this season was to be null and void the team currently top of league 2 could be promoted to league 1. This would result 24 teams in league 1 and 2.

IT was also reported on the BBC Teletext service who said a vote took place via a conference call yesterday.

It mentioned that Barrow want to be promoted automatically and all current league standings to be final.

It's time clubs like County realised the position the country is in and acknowledge the season is over and should start afresh next year with a rerun of this year's leagues. There are bigger things than football and there should be no winners or losers.

Yorkshire TV have just reported that the season is definitely over and no more games will be played.

No decision has been made about promotion or relegation and this will be discussed with the football league. Sounds like County have shot it as even if promotions do take place it will be the top two.

Surely barrow would have to come up anyway to make up the numbers?

I think that would cause more problems than it solved. Just re-run this season.

But irrespective you can’t reinstate bury, so someone will have to come up. There’s no way the FL would allow the season to run again with 71 teams.

That would leave League 2 with 25 teams, so one would have to be promoted but who? Crewe and Swindon are on the same points and Crewe have played one game more. They won their last match so do you rule that one out or what? Swindon have more points per game played but maybe their fixtures have been easier who knows.

Surely the only fair thing to do is run league 1 with 23 teams and leave everything else as it is.

The idea is to have the 4 go up as normal and if steve age didn’t go down barrow would come up to equal the 24. Presumably the conference would only relegate 3 and 4 would come up and the problem of the missing space will be pushed down the leagues

But how would you decide promotions and relegations? It's not fair to use current league tables as they almost certainly wouldn't have been the same if the season was completed.

Can you imagine County accepting that?

Tbh there’s no precedent for it so no correct answer, you could go round in circles forever and never form an agreement. If there’s nothing in the rules then it could be chaos.

If they choose to have promotion the most logical thing would be to have 4th go up with the top 3, but then there would be counter arguments.

Even if the option of the season being declared void is taken there is the unique scenario of the FL having 71 teams so there would still need another team

They coped fine with 71 teams this season. I'm sure they can for a rerun of this season

As far as I am aware only the National League is finishing because they have not received a bailout fund and their contracts end on 31 May so they won't have to pay the players any more. The EFL is still planning to finish the season and presumably have playoffs. What they do about replacing Bury is anybody's guess

Anyone thinking that there will be any games played before September is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Draw a line under this season and start again will be the only option.
