Vintage Match Highlights

Postby MTFCMAD » Sun Mar 22, 2020 4:42 pm

Been looking through YouTube at some old game footage to pass the unnoficial lockdown.

Thought it’d be good for users to post some in here if they know of any hidden gems on the net.

I’ve been looking for quite a few matches from our play off season...mainly the Cambridge Away 9 men match and the best away display I’ve ever seen from a stags side the 3-1 Away at Huddersfield.

Also I’ve been looking for Cardiff at home 99 I think when we won 3-0 and hull city at home in 98 I think when we beat them on the opening day of the season.

Any help much obliged....get posting your links on this thread.

Bristol City based commentary, and not great picture quality, but here’s a c. 40 minute highlights of the Freight Rover Trophy final that I watched today:

Talking of that 3-1 away win at Huddersfield, which has to be one of the very best performances of any stags team anytime, is it available on youtube?

I’d imagine martins got all the clips....because some of the throwbacks the club do on Twitter are poor we need Martin in a time like this...not really bothered about seeing junior brown score against Hartlepool in 2015

Our official twitter feed throwbacks always tend to be since we got back into the league, I assume that is due to the availability of the footage, and the quality of it.

I love these threads, years ago I managed to decode some of the ‘goals on cd’ issues....

First game with the west stand knocked down (i think) vs Macc Town.

Another home thriller with Hartlepool...

https://youtu.be/abRQYEr3poE

Greenacre’s incredible goal at Chelts...

Then Blake did one a week later....

I'll always remember those on here who never rated Wayne, who thought he was a luxury we couldn't afford. He was fantastic to watch, so much talent and some of his goals will live with me forever!

Corden was a fantastic player. It’s nearly 20 years ago but I wouldn’t say we’ve had another player since then so adept at scoring from outside the box. 95% of players we’ve had since then you wouldn’t even be optimistic of them hitting the target with a 25 yarder.

In recent years we have been particularly poor at scoring from range, whereas some teams bang them in nearly every week from range. I swear I’ve never seen an episode on quest where Peterborough haven’t smashed one in from 25 yards
