To be fair though, tomlinson has had a fairly average game up until his goal, a few good interceptions but he did miss a chance earlier where you'd expect at least a cross or a shot on target and he put it over. He's not been poor though.

White on for Kelland Watts who appears to have a neck injury after a clash of heads when challenging for the ball.

That’s encouraging because usually he’s either very good or slightly more often very bad, so if he can find a little more consistency that’s promising.

Whilst ever Fraser McLachlan remains burned into my memory, no other player will come near being the worst midfielder we have had in the last 49 years and 6 months I've been watching The Stags. (Rose is still bang average ;) )

He's only just turned 22, he has time to find that consistency. His is a high energy based game and I think we nearly all agree that this season the whole squad just hasn't been fit enough to play that style of game.

Cross came in stone started to come for it but decided not to. Header over him and into the net. It wasn't really a cross he could realistically get to in all honesty.

FT 1-2.

Looks like I got the result right in my pre match prediction just not first goal loses. Then again the sending off altered it.

Since the goal Tomlinson obviously grew in confidence, didn't set a single foot wrong and showed some good touches and passes.

Great result. Shame we had to tarnish the clean sheet. Oh well. 3 PTS!

Watched tomlinson goal back.

Goode throw into the area, tomlinson heads it away (approx 8 yards from our goal line) Maynard wins the ball and Tomlinson had bust a gut to run to the half way line, stopped (or he'd be offside) saw Maynard had kept hold of the ball and Maynard played it forwards for Tomlinson to carry on his run and finish past the keeper. He basically ran 100 yards to score that goal.

A win by 1 goal or 4 is still a win. How many times have we gone up against side with 10 men and royally stuffed it up? It's an improvement either way.

A good if unexpected win. I thought the team stood up well today against a Northampton team who don't mind dishing it out physically. They were a very big team who didn't pull out of challenges and expected to win.

We would have lost that at this point last season and for most of this and it shows the team are starting to have a backbone.

Not a pretty display but the wind didn't help.

Well done to all, onwards and upwards.
