Went in there once when on leave with a couple of mates. We weren’t allowed into the club as we were “a gang”. Three of us.
Went to the ruby house. Asked for a carryout of three bottles of wine. Said they wouldn’t serve us alcohol without food.

Had three bottles of wine and a chicken tikka starter.

I only ever ate there once.

The table cloth looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks. The food tasted okay, but I did get the squits later, so never went back again.

Indian cuisine seems much better quality these days.

I remember the Shaheen, shocking hygiene standards.
What was the Chinese restaurant called on Market St.
You used to go down stairs. I'm sure it was the silver something.
Can any remember Chans Garden at the bottom of Leeming Street just up from the HSBC.?
Why do the two football teams I support always let me down.

Your thinking of rugby Mr Whiff,
Footy players today.. With gloves on!!
And multi coloured silly looking football boots that wouldn't look out of place in a Russian ballet... What ever happened to plain black three stripe Adidas boots that the likes of Norman Hunter wore.

I remember the Chinese restaurant on Leeming Street, it was about a third of the way up. I used to go in there but only to play the Donkey Kong arcade game in the corner.

I liked Shaheen at the time (the Phall curry or something like that was unbelievably hot and I don’t know why I ordered it), used to walk over from the Village or Limos, I think. Seem to remember it was open past 2am as well and still serving beer.

Or Leeming Street Fish Bar but that was quite lively around kicking out time at the nightclubs.

I think that’s right. I think Modhu Mitha opened in the late 80s. I remember going when it was ‘new’. Very good Bombay mix in the reception area.

Very fond memories of The Bells. The "pass out" stamped on your hand when you left the upstairs room to get a drink as it was cheaper downstairs. Mansfield Bitter 1/7d. Mansfield Nut Brown 1/9d. The DJ's - Solomon and Syd Pepper. And afterwards up to that cafe on Clumber Street - I think it was called The Flamingo (?). My late old friend and ardent Stags fan Pete Passant having a week off work in an attempt to drink 100 pints in that week. Happy days.

My brother Steve milnes was a DJ. upstairs for a couple of yrs with Solomon .
Mods in the bells ,rockers in the jockey

:) Comments on here say so ,as a young one i was in that arcade a lot

The ex said to look at her. It’s that famous actress. Who I asked.

Helen Tour de France.

Jack's snacks.

Had many a mug of tea and slices of toast in there before work opened for the day, after getting off the early bus from New Ollerton.

Mind you it's over forty years ago !

Swiss Chalet Cafe behind the town hall. My mum used to take me in there for a glass of hot orange cordial before going to the toy fair in the co-op to see Santa.
