Coxy's short on numbers atm and Conf North's a step up from Leek where Jay was last. Since taking over at Kettering Cox has lost one League game in 2 months

Hopefully this means GC is bringing in another option at left back, maybe a loan?

Wasn't he originally a striker?

I think he could do a job at this level with the right backing. Seems a very good mananager.. and there's managers that go from league club to league club without ever doing anything.

He did alright at the level with the likes of meikle and Stevenson and Ollie Palmer, 11th was fairly decent and then his budget was slashed and we had to rely on YouTube footballers like Fergus bell

Right Sean Dyche of a manager, no nonsense proper old school.

Jason law looked very good in the Scunthorpe game last season. Even getting Martin's man of the match.

Here's the match report if you're interested https://stagsnet.net/match/reports/view ... atchid=957

In contrast against Everton in the checkatrade he didn't touch the ball and was subbed at half time. And I'm not exaggerating when I said he didn't touch the ball.

Very true. Also he was played as a left winger instead of back. Also around 12 months after. Also you've got form to take into consideration, the Everton game was after horrible form, 1 win in 6. The 6 games before Scunthorpe we had won 3 and drew 3.

When in a rut you can't expect youth to bail you out. The pressure on such inexperienced players is too much at their stage of development.

Jay came on as a 2nd half sub. His goal is on youtube, in Spennymoor's highlights package.

Remember Jason was signed as a striker, we seem to shoe in anywhere we have a gap. Tough on the lad.

I'm not saying it's not possible. You absolutely can win with kids. They need blooding in and given a shot in winning sides. We aren't winning this season so there's more pressure, something the youth teamers aren't used to at this stage. Some players never adapt.also, that Alan Hansen quote was about one of the best sides in the country at that time, certainly in Manchester. I believe it was after their first game of that season where the lost to Aston villa(?) they then went on to win the league. We're talking about it mid-season after Smith has featured 11 times this season for us.

Besides, the part you highlighted said you can't expect them to bail you out. It's nothing to do with how good they are. We are at a stage where we are expecting a youth teamer to come in and play well. Look what happened he came in, didn't play well and is being declared not good enough.

It is a decent start and a good result at promotion chasing Spennymoor Town. He's dragging them away from the relegation spots.

I hope we continue to help him out with loans where we can.

If they win their games in hand they will be on the verge of the play offs, I'm sure they were rock bottom when he took over.

Coxy deserves a shot in the football league.

Hope the lad gets a run of first team games and forces himself into our first team before the season is out. Could end up being the making of the player.

He was given a shot in the Football League.

He was unlucky that he wasn't afforded a budget that our recent managers have had, coupled with a squad that was ravaged by injury.

For what reason?

In my opinion he is more deserving than the regurgitated list of unsuccessful managers who keep getting FL jobs.

He won trophies at Eastwood, he got us back into the FL and in hindsight with the lack of money he had available he guided us to a very respectful top half finish in his only FL season. He had a great win rate at Barrow. He has now turned Kettering around (it's only a good start, granted, but I can see him getting them into the play offs).

He would be a good fit at many lower League clubs. Stevenage would have been better off going for him rather than going back to Westley for a 4th time IMO.

Strictly speaking, Cox finished higher in the league for us than Steve Evans did, and he did it with less money! ;)
