Andrew gets the nod for 'that goal'...

I'm sure you can look beyond benning and white appearing the wrong way round in a list Pete. Part Time Pete, more like Pedantic Pete.

When you sit down and think about it, it's a really hard team to pick.

Whiteman was a Champ player.

Wrong !

League one player.

I stand corrected.

Whiteman was the best player I’ve seen since Lawrence imo. Great watching him play.

Surely you can't have loanees.

Marriott

Benning tafazoli Jones Pearce white

Murray clucas Mellis

Green Andrew

That is a blend of sentiment, success and ability.

Definitely some sentiment in there, Andrew over Walker is a crime

Sir Calvin made our dreams come true :D Sadly Tyler didn't

He was class, he chipped in with a few goals too. Didn't he get a hat trick one game? Like you say, best mid we've had in ages

My team was based on a mixture of contribution and ability. And I did include loanees in my selection.

Calvin Andrew over Green, Walker and Maynard!

Andrew was so overrated - and who cares about that goal against Chesterfield ... Loads of Stags players have scored against our lesser neighbours.
Maybe we should create a team who have scored against Chesterfield. A good case in point being Ernie Moss who scored against his old club at Saltergate in the last minute. Or Keith Cassells, who if memory serves correctly, scored a hat-trick and then went in goal - whilst consigning them to relegation.

Who is on the 'roll of honour'?

Mal Benning,
Calvin Andrew
Liam Lawrence
Ernie Moss
Keith Cassells
Steve Wilkinson
Simon Coleman
Ian Stringfellow

Gosh ... there must be so many over the years! This could be a job for Sweden Stag!

Here's a team based on players who have played at a higher level since playing for the Stags

Lewis Price

Danny Andrew, Rhys Bennett, Steve Cook, Ryan Tafazolli, Nathan Elder

Kieron Freeman, Ben Whiteman, Sam Clucas,

Matt Green, Tyler Walker

Could put Tom Naylor in instead of Bennett and all of a sudden it looks pretty good quality that TTF.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Matt Green is surely the first name of the team sheet for his goals in the Conference winning season, which is easily the most significant event in the decade.

I've based it on player ability, and mostly stuck to players I saw a lot of. I rarely attended during the conference years as was playing myself.

You might have had more opportunity to watch Conference football if it wasn't for Green.

Very true. I'm not belittling his achievements, but by the time I saw a lot of him he was not the same player.

It's a bugbear of mine when people pick players in these sort of teams that they haven't even seen play or seen a lot of.

Just keeping it as honest as possible.

Absolutely Martin! :)

Matt Green is surely the most influential player of the decade, probably followed by Alan Marriott and Adam Murray.

Whiteman was the only reason Joel Byrom was given a contract. Whiteman was that good he made Byrom look better than he was.

Byrom was a good player but he needed legs next to him, not Mellis!
