John dempster is not the man for the job and those trying to argue he is need a reality check, why waste a whole season when we can revive it with a great managerial change?
HE NEEDS TO GO, NOW!!
How do you know it would be a change for the better? We could get someone experienced in & end up going down. Have a look up the A60 for that example.
You can’t not sack dempster for massively underperforming due to worries about the next manager not doing any better. Football managers would never get sacked if teams had this mentality.
The Notts County example is just one sample. There are of course a lot of examples in the past when underachieving teams have sacked their manager and then improved under the new manager. Swindon sacked Phil Brown this time last year when despite targeting promotion, they were in a similar position as we are in now. They hired Wellens, gave him half a season or so to assess the squad and now look at them - they’re top of the league and scoring for fun.
Villa sacked Bruce and got Dean Smith in mid season, went from mid table to promotion via the playoffs, Sol went in to Macclesfield and somehow kept them up. You could pick no end of examples out where a change of manager has changed an underperforming clubs fortunes.
Our manager is not doing a good job. The clubs expectations were clearly set out as automatic promotion by the chairman and CEO - they set the standard here, but we are 9 points adrift of the playoffs having played 2 games more and massively underachieving. One decent half of football where we didn’t score changes nothing in the grand scheme of things.
You never know, a new manager may not take off, that’s football, but to not take action because Notts County went down is just ridiculous. With only one relegation spot this season, there has never been a more risk free time to make a change in terms of not worrying about falling through the trap door, providing we make a good, considered appointment. I think we are more likely to get embroiled in a scrap at the wrong end under Dempster than if we replaced him.
