I think some refs would not have issued the 2nd caution, I count myself as one of those, but I suppose you cannot argue that it was technically correct. I don't think there was any intent so for me I think I would have given him a last chance. We'll take it. Shaughnessy was, for me, MoM, by a country mile but I get giving it to Maynard.

No chance that was a foul by Shaughnessy for the third. Maouche was down before he even tried to tackle him.

I'll look at it again shortly, in slow motion. Working on goal videos now.

Then you would have refereed that wrong.

The second caution was great refereeing; he allowed play to continue knowing that the challenge had not caused the situation to inflame then came back after a melee with he was in control of to issue the caution and dismiss the player. That was an assessors dream.

Great refereeing, possibly why you would not have cautioned him the second time.

It was a yellow card, bodychecked him well after he’d released the ball... why would it not be a yellow?

was just a precaution, Dempster was pretty sure he'd be fine.

Martin, I know your full report is not yet online but who was your MOM. You can't take anything away from Maynard but I thought Shaughnessy was immense, involved in all the good work and was so composed on the ball.

Maybe read what is already on!

but I can’t look any further than Nicky Maynard for man of the match with a first half hat-trick and a further assist.
