Cook needed to step up and get a goal, especially now Danny Rose might be out. Annoyed he didn’t want it.

Or....... Cook is confident enough in his ability to score at this level, that for the benefit of the team, for if Rose is injured Knowles will stay on the bench, and in particular a young man who is just starting out in his career, he let him have his moment with as little pressure on him as was possible.

And I also think that the way all the other subs, and those brought off got off the bench to watch and applaud young Jimmy's penalty shows great unity within the group.

It was Mal Benning who threw the ball to Jimmy Knowles. He then went straight to a slightly disgruntled Cook who appeared to my view to have expected to have been given the ball but accepted the decision.

No, he offered Cook the ball first and he refused.

Win, and I think we could pull clear of the bottom few.

Lose and the Dempster Out brigade simply can not be ignored.

Why are you annoyed that an experienced striker gave a youth player a chance to grab his first league goal and his second in as many games?

We know cook needs a goal, but he is getting in good positions and it'll come soon.

Mal offered the ball to Cook who refused. Mal then gave it to Knowles who took it on, and fair play to him. I’m not annoyed Knowles scored obviously, I’m annoyed that Cook didn’t want to step up first. He’s missed 3 sitters and a penalty in his time here so far, we need him to start scoring alongside Maynard, and as such, today (under no pressure as we’d already wrapped the game up) he should’ve stepped up and got his first goal to kick on the rest of his season!

You are right. It was definitely Mal that handed to ball to Knowles.

The referee was Lee Swabey, who was the ref who was in charge when we won at Hereford in the Championship season.

Just seen the incident on Quest, Morais totally clattered Bishop. Yellow card all day long, but as he'd already got one

The straight red was correct, the 2nd yellow for me a bit harsh, a word would have done. The penalty was a truly horrific decision. We definitely got the right side of the ref today, he was truly terrible.

Clowns quiet tonight, maybe they have fallen over their clown shoes or broken down in their clown car. I genuinely think its a milennial thing, the spoilt, entitled generation. It's not fair, the world owes me a living dunnit. Super-excited and super-proud of myself, fgs

Don't become like some of them.
They have had every right to be concerned and maybe after nearly 40 years of supporting the best team in the world
They just might take the rough with the smooth and realise it's more rough than smooth.
We could win the next 6 or lose the next 6 but it won't take away last Saturday's or today's result.
Enjoy the smooth, it doesn't happen that often.

Shaughnessy, Khan, Rose and Maynard were the pick of the bunch for me today.

The change in formation made a huge difference. Shaughnessy in front of the back 4 mopped up everything and controlled the game allowing us to play some nice free flowing football.

We'd have beat them easy even if they kept 11 on the pitch.

The penalty, watch the other leg of the player that wins the ball, it takes out the standing leg. You can’t go in like that in modern football in the box it runs the risk of a penalty every time. Some are given and some aren’t. Terrible - no; measured and in control when the tempo could have risen - yes; talking to the players throughout without being over self important - yes; any cautions issued for dissent towards him from either side - no. He had a good game.

The following lyrics, wrote by the great 1990’s indie band, The Sultans of Ping , about Nigel Clough could easily apply to Shaunessey.

Give him a ball and a yard of grass
He'll give you a move with a perfect pass
Give him a ball and a yard of space
He'll give you a move with goodly grace

As I spoke to a Leeds scout before the game who was there to check up on his progress, enjoy his ‘goodly grace’ whilst we can.

For me, he was Man of the Match. (Note to Dempster, don’t ever play him at Centre half again as he is wasted there).

Surprised by this view - 2nd yellow looked stone wall, wiped him out late.

He reffed us twice in Conference winning season.

Firstly at Woking when he gave us an ‘offside’ goal from a Briscoe cross when we had a player in an offside position in centre going for ball and missing it.

And secondly at Hereford when he added on just enough time for winner.

I’d say a truly great bloke.

Oddly Chrisuknottm hasn't posted at all about the game, I bet he's absolutely crestfallen he's not able to stoke the flames in the Dempster Out pyre for another week
