I don't see how it could've been. I've never known a club approach a manager when they still have one.

Sod it. I'll do it. I know formations. I'll threaten them with having to sit and listen to me talk about how the back 4 is dead but also a solid plan B for 3 hours if they play crap.

I won't even cost that much tbh. I'd probably be on less than the YTS lads.

I took the stags to European glory on football manager. Plus I follow a few decent players on twitter so they are as good as signed.

Anything is possible, but it doesn’t matter anymore because he turned it down, whoever it was.

Whoever it is (if they're a decent gaffer), can we at least give them 2 full seasons to prove us wrong?

Well they'll get all of this season, and probably 12 games grace next season.

If we want someone with passion who already knows some of the players, what about Jamie McGuire? Initially as a caretaker manager. See how he fares. With it being a caretaker role he can go back to being head of youth recruitment when a new manager is appointed.

We need to do this properly, no more rushing into decisions. If dempster is sacked (some say when but he's still in the job) we need a caretaker for a few games and interview any applicants who look promising.

Whilst I rated DF he was appointed as gaffer days after Evans left. It was decided 4th wasn't good enough and within 24 hours we appointed dempster. Please, let's not rush into the next one.

Behave. Are you serious? Clubs always approach managers before pulling the trigger, it reduces the amount of 'caretaker' time.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Each to their own Musings, but unless the appointment turns sour i personally think 2 full seasons is really the time to judge.

It's easy to say 'change it' without really considering the cost and rebuild time required. I think sometimes we seem happy to pull the trigger almost as soon as a manager reaches what we consider 'full potential' but hasn't delivered us the end result we're after

I'm just being realistic mate. The managerial world is not really fair, so any manager going into a job thinking they're going to get two years before they're judged is not living in the current world.

Agreed - that sums up some fans expectations perfectly!

Personally, the current world and real world are very different things! ;)

Clive Nates, the Lincoln City Chairman, confirmed in a post match interview that they have had in place for a while a Management Succession Committee which will continue to sit even though they have just appointed a new manager. Good planning.

Great first result for Appleton. Probably tried to get them playing football on the floor and they couldn't handle it.
