This has to go down as the worst signing ever for Mansfield surely?

As horrible as Bradley was, he actually did something for us. We got 45 minutes out of Donohue.

Wonder if anyone will pick him in league two

Was he released before the transfer deadline?

If so can he now sign for another club outside the transfer window?

What a wonderful season this is.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

In my opinion this is a cop out by the club.

Terrminating by mutual consent? Looks better on the lads CV than being sacked

Not a cop out in my opinion. His c.v. won’t look too good- lasted less than a month of a new season. Any other club will look into the reasons why and he still has a police investigation ongoing so will have to disclose this if/when it goes any further.
From an employers point of view it could have dragged on at considerable time and expense whilst still paying his wages.
It’s done now, let’s move on.

Though in no way am I applauding the actions of Dion in working with the club for the termination of his contract I am glad that there is a swift outcome. He could have, just like Adam Johnson did when repeatedly saying to Sunderland that he was not a paedophile disgustingly right up to the trial date, played this out as long as he needed to for his own benefit.

Thankfully a line has been drawn under the unsavoury incident and can now be just a talking point on Stagsnet and not sully the clubs reputation further.

A club would be mad to take him on with the pending Police investigation.
I hear he has past misdemeanors which could go against him.

Yes it would be a risk but I was wondering if he could actually sign for anyone else (league club that is) before the next transfer window. If he can a club could always put in a release clause if he gets a custodial sentence (presuming he is charged in the first place).

From the players long term financial point of view, he is probably better off going now. From the club's point of view we have probably saved a few months wages, so best scenario for both.

Chesterfield would welcome him back with open arms.

Not only because they are cack and actually performing worse than us at the moment, (somehow) but every Chesterfield fan and Pompey fan I know rated him and said he is far too good to even be in League 2.

Many calling this a cop out for not firing him but I now think this is a good move by the club. In agreeing with him to go it settles any legal comeback and timing it in with all the transfer deadline talk it hides a lot of the associated bad publicity from the incident.

Donahue will still have to explain himself to future employers but if he’s as good as they say someone will gamble especially if they factor it into his contract. We did with many players in the conference although I can’t remember any under police investigation.

I know he's injured at the moment and I know Rose started the season well, but you'd have though if JD wanted to play direct football, Cook would be the man to turn to. It seems JD signed Cook with that in mind but couldn't pick him ahead of Maynard or Rose due to their form.

Punchy individual hiding behind football
He will get another club and probably do ok
Shame as he could have been a very good player for us.
Onwards and... hopefully upwards from now on and big wages saved as well.

Totally agree with that but I'd also add that from the one sighting of Cook he looked unfit and overweight too

I think that's just how he always looks, by the looks of old clips. He won plenty of headers in pre-season.

Probably explains his demeanour :x

Football has plenty of examples of players who think they can swan around and breeze through their contract, based on 1-2 years previously good form. Those players that match their top notch quality with good attitude have a glut of clubs lining up to sign their services, so very few and far between. Sounds like we're best rid of Donohue if he's got a chip so large his nickname could have been McCain.

It'd be great if clubs would instil players with the right attitude from a very early stage. If it were up to me i'd get em doing 3 months YTS bricklaying on a muddy building site in Feb, and tell em that's what their career will be if they muck about! ;)
If i look in pain it's because i'm thinking
