He said someone with legs.
Someone who doesn’t panic and treat the ball like a hot potato would be ideal.
But the manager seems to like that as they 'work hard'

Sorry but i don't think we really need, will get or should get anyone... We have numbers at the back and in midfield. The fact people on here are foaming about the midfield doesn't mean we need anyone. I guess you could argue Donahue now missing leaves a gap, but we have 5 players + Smith and others who can play in midfield.
What is the point in letting JD spend anything. He's had a crap start, everyone is worried and many think he'll be gone in weeks. Why let him waste another penny. If we have budget available it should be saved for January and a new manager, or to help JD if he's turned it round.
Singing a midfield he wants now is madness and won't change anything. Unless we're talking serious quality, they won't get in ahead of the 4/5 options we already have.

Well, we've already signed someone, so that's out the window.
Regardless of whether you think he will be here much longer, JD is not going to be of that mindset is he? The players he has signed look to be good players, he just hasn't managed the effectively so far.

I would have liked an experienced centre half in the Bostwick/Shackell mould and a quality midfield player who can put his foot on the ball, pass it forward and chip in with a few goals. We have enough non-scoring defensive work horse midfield players.

I kinda agree with you on midfield. But at centre half we were desperate for cover last season there. We have got to replace Turner. We play a back 3, we've got 5 centre halves (including Gibbens). You play your best players in their best positions. White is a dependable centre back but not a regular starter there, same with Mal Benning.
If we don't sign a central defender then we need to abandon the back 3. We can't keep playing so many players out of position.

That’s the challenge he’s had for 2 weeks since the Donohue scenario... sign somebody who improves our midfield?
The midfield was a weak point for us last season and he tried to address it by bringing Donohue in and it hasn’t worked out. If he found the need for a midfielder in the summer then why wouldn’t he want one now when we look poor in there? Just because we have numbers doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to improve, particularly when it’s glaringly obvious that quality is lacking in that department. Can see your angle from the Dempster point of view, but surely we’ve got to give it a go?

If he doesn’t address the midfield in the next 45mins he will be gone in the next four games imo
cannot understand why it’s not his priority to sign one tbh

Totally agree. Frightening that there are some on here that can't recognise that it is a problem area that if not addressed can have massive ramifications.

Just posted on another thread - it says on Wikipedia that the new signing can also play centre mid.

We are going to be very dependant on getting Neal Bishop and Jacob Mellis fit and back to playing to their best. Hopefully we can get to January in a good position and then bring in some back ups to avoid fading away at the end of the season.

I think we can still sign non-contract players after the transfer window closes such as Timi Elsnik.

His wage and contract demands will now probably significantly drop if he is a free agent after deadline day.
