With Davies out and with no prospect of an immediate return for Gibbens, do we need another back up striker?
Surely we can't gamble and go with three until 2020, can we?

I think a CB is more important right now.

Agree CB is definitely more important.
CJ, knowles, graham all other striker options.

We have the forgotten man Omari Sterling James too. I too think we're one light at the back as cover.

Isn’t Gibbens a defender.

White can play cb if we go 3 at back. Striker more important.

This is a tricky one as we have to balance what we have and who we would actually bring in.
Potentially, we would be looking for a 3rd or 4th string striker as Cook and Maynard are clearly are first two choices. If 3rd string, then we would be effectively ebding Danny Rose's time with us. If 4th string, who would come? A loan striker would only come if their parent club thought they would get minutes.
In terms of what it would mean about those lower down the squad, i am not convinced we would get anyone more effective than one of the kids. Don't forget we have 3 kids (2 of whom i presume will go on loan), Sterling-James and Hamilton who could fill in up front.
The questions are whether we need someone else, what would it say about the decisions made on retention in the summer, professional terms offered to the 2 kids and whether it would affect morale for those on the edge of the team.

Absolutely in my opinion. Doesn’t need to be on mega money, but we need another option. If it’s not working and we need to change it Dempster will turn to the bench and only see one senior striker on the bench in Rose, it’s not enough. Likewise if we suffer an injury to Cook or Maynard we’ll then have nothing to change it.
CJ is an effective option there yes but he often plays in another position and you don’t always want to be moving him about like we did last year. You should always have 4 senior out and out strikers in your squad.

No I don't think so. Would upset the ballance. Bring in a good one and Maynard or Cook will miss out. Bring in an OK one ans Rose could miss out. Rose is already a good enough backup to those two. And then beyond that, CJ, Knowles, Graham and OSJ provide enough cover.
I also don't think we need a CB. We can put White in and Gibno when fit or change to a back 4.

You mix up a black centre forward and a white centre half, a second income awaits starring in ads for Specsavers.

Ha, ha, Big Yella, maybe.
But we have seen so little of either it was an easy mistake to make, both names beginning with G etc.

It's like we could have used Joe Quigley as a backup, would rather have Knowles or Graham in (when he's back)

Jimmy scored a cracker in the YT game against t'sheep yesterday morning . Game was a carbon copy of the 1st team game 4 hours later. 0-2 down at HT and came back to draw .

TBH until someone takes his phone and iphone off him he'll never be fit enough to play. He spends more time on them than exercising in the gym. Pay him up and get rid! Perhaps then we'd have more chance of a striker agreeing to come on loan

Jimmy picked the ball up in midfield and beat 5 or 6 under 18's before firing in a good shot . The shot was good for any level but there is no way he would have got in to that position playing against senior pro's .
Suprised how many sheep were there , they do not like being called non leaguers .

Possibly as Cook does not seem to be featuring much and my thoughts were he was one of our main hopes this season to work with Maynard.
Rose doing well so can see why he is not in the team but should be getting more game time in my view and hoping he can get a start on Tuesday maybe.

Cook will feature heavily. Rose is playing well enough to keep him out for now but he will go through bad spells as all strikers do. It’s Maynard we need to wrap in cotton wool.

We need a commanding midfielder who chips in with 10-12 goals ala Paul Holland

not exactly a commanding midfielder but could chip in with a few goals. would give competition to khan for the number 10/winger role
