So at left wing back we have Mal, CJ and Donohue. In a 4-4-2 mal and Donohue left back and CJ and Khan left midfield. Now surely we will be concentrating on that right hand side. Our achilles heel last season. For right sided players we have Macca (who is a winger) and White. That's it. You could again argue CJ and Khan but if they are needed down the left we could be short if we switch to 4-4-2. We don't want the situation again where CJ is playing 3 or 4 positions in a game. We can't weaken another area to move someone to the opposite side which could also weaken that side (if that makes sense) we need solid backups for each position.

Asked around a few Spireites about him. They all said he is quality as a centre mid, but not so great out on the left.

I’m not sure he was ever ‘quality’ anywhere. He tried hard but was always a liability due to his tendency to fly into challenges and get involved with things that were nothing to do with him. Not that it did us much good, but it was good business to get money for him.

Not correct. He signed for us after Cook left.

Your players thought he was 'quality' enough to name him Players' Player of the Year 2017.

They went down that year (i know what you're thinking, which one...), Dion was lucky he didn't get pipped to the post by Chester the Field Mouse.

On paper a very good signing but feel slightly uneasy about him from what I have read but what do I know!!
will his attitude and fitness be ok??

We welcome him aboard the roller coaster anyway and give him his chance to shine.

Not sure if you meant this or an unveiling video, but here you go nonetheless.

I suspect he's just a bit nervous doing the interview that's all.

A proper new signing video. None of that posh car, airport stuff. :)

"So Dion, welcome to Mansfield Town. As you know the rest of the squad have just had an all-expenses-paid training camp in Portugal, getting together and bonding as a unit. While they were out there, we hyped up a signing of one of the top League 2 strikers from last season, flew them out and released a full-on publicity video. Now, you've joined Mansfield from League 1 Portsmouth, correct? So we'd just like to ask you a few questions for the supporters...... Smile please !"

I am pretty sure he doesn't care about lack of a signing video and a works outing to Portugal. He was probably trying to secure himself a move to a league 1 side that clearly hasn’t materialised.

If he was that bothered about staying in League One, he could have stayed at Portsmouth. He says in the interview that Portsmouth wanted him to stay but he said he would prefer to move further north and the Portsmouth manager agreed to it.

I think reading between the lines the geography had a lot to do with a move here but he speaks well about fresh start and challenge which we do provide.

Shame he could not make the Portugal trip as this would have helped get him involved in the set up a bit more.

He actually sounds fairly decent. There are some sour grapes comments from obvious quarters but the fact Pompey still wanted him must mean he has something about him.

Late decision though. The injuries are a worry....Again.

Donohue:

“They [Portsmouth] had an option of [extending my contract for] a further 12 months. I had a conversation with the manager, and he said he wanted to take it up.

“I asked him if he’d rather not take it up, because I wanted to move closer to home and I think I needed a fresh start to re-energise myself and give myself something to get excited for.”
