I agree with Tater'. Send them on an Outward Bounds/Army outdoors experience or even get them working together on a local charity project.

Eddie Howe once took his Burnley players sheep herding. I don't think it worked out as well as he planned though.

Neil Warnock always liked to take his players to Cornwall as he had a house down there.

Didn't one of our managers arrange a pre-season trip to Scotland?

Many times but alas no more. It's just one big car park from Worcester all the way to whichever resort you are visiting. Rip off prices have also done it for me and I now visit East Yorkshire which has as much to offer apart from the surf which I'm now too old for.

As an example the cost of a 99 ice cream the last time I was in Cornwall was £3.50 with juice and candy bits charged as extras. Same thing in East Yorkshire (using good local ice cream - Mr Moos) £1.25 with juice and bits for free. The fish and chips are better too.

Of course other destinations are available and each individual is free to make their own choice.

Just got back from Staithes, Runswick Bay, Whitby and a vanilla (soft) ice cream cornet cost £2.40. Cornish prices heading north?

Only in the posh bits as mentioned above :D Still cheap in Whitby if you go to the shop just over the bridge.

This Portugal trip might be a bit of a waste - temperatures of 44c. You can't do too much intensive fitness in those conditions, it's a danger to life.

Edit - just looked at the weather forecast for Faro, mid to late 20s. Perfect.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

I once did some extra hours for a company I used to work for.
Instead of paying me overtime my boss said I could have a day in Looe which sounded good but I never went.
He changed his mind and let me have an extra day off work the tight sod.
