Club have tweeted an 8 minute long video of the new bar, looks excellent!
Fan zone incoming as well, waiting for approval from the council for a permenant fixture so might have to be gazebos to begin with.
Well done to all involved, big step forward!

I like the giant shoe horn they have got hung up on the wall that can be used to get Forest Town Stag’s and Old Ram Stag’s wallets out!

Not like a Broughton to keep saying “I, I, I, I”, no I in team !!

Looks like they're going with the name Sandy's bar and kitchen. Much better!

Loved the question from Mark 'Why have you decided to change the names from The Sandy Pate Sports Bar and Restaurant'.
Because it just took you 20 seconds to say it Mark! Not exactly very catchy was it!

Having now watched the video, I like the name change for the same reasons as Tina explained in the video. The Sandy Pate bar doesn't roll off the tongue. However I'm not sure this is the right direction to take the bar. If you want an upmarket dining experience you'd go to IL Rosso or AndWhyNot. I don't think Sandy's should try to be like those places as the floating punter probably won't want to venture around the back of a football stand for that kind of dining. Not sure it'll feel right on a match day either but I look forward to the fanzone. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's a success.

My favourite question that he asked was whether there would be tables in the booths, after Tina said that they'd be used for dining by couples and families. No Mark, they will eat from lap trays.

A lick of paint and some decoration changes doesn’t mean it’s upmarket. I agree though thst I’m not sure it’s the best direction to go in (couples dining etc) but I guess the marketing from here will tell us more.
I think good, quality food at a good price and a softer feel is all it needed

Can't wait for those upmarket couples enjoying their caviar to be disrupted by six sweaty blokes in their football kits after six a side

If this fanzone comes to fruition will it have a bar that's in there that's set up on a matchday? Hope it will not be the one in the SP only otherwise with the extra punters it'll be quicker to nip to Sainsburys for some cans than wait in t'queue for ages and ages and ages and ages and...

See they've given the Gabbitas Gates a make over too and moved them inside ! ...I'm all for recycling. They look better in brown
.
Phoenix Nights Anyone ?
.
Not sure how a big tent will look outside though . The last time I went into a tent at the ground was on the car park when a circus was in town. Does anybody else recall this ?
.
In all honesty the refurbishment looks ok but I will save my full opinion when I have visited it . Cannot fault the club for making progress in this department.

I have always wondered who actually goes all the way to the ground for a meal/drink on non-matchdays....I cant see how (no matter how nice the bar / food) you will ever get enough footfall...Its a good 10 - 15 min walk from the town centre so not on a pub crawl route.
Would it not be better to open a 'Stags' sports bar / diner up in the town centre with profit going into the club where it would attract not only die hard stags fans but the general Mansfield public as well? You only have to go in the Green Dragon / Bootlicker (whatever its now called!) when decent prem games are on TV to see the potential....cant see 'Sandies' attracting them up there.
This said - the refurb looks good and a fan zone would be good for pre-match drinks (so long as it doesn't take 45 mins to get a drink!)

Went in Saturday lunch with the wife and a couple of friends. They've made a great job of the refurb. Food very nice and great value for money. Well done to all concerned.
