Whatever the rules are teams will manipulate them. It's tinkering around the edges. The problems you describe are real and annoying, but the only way they will be addressed is by stricter use of the excisiting rules by the referees.one f in mansfield wrote:Amber Andy wrote:How long has this game of football been going ? Substitutes taking far too long to leave the pitch is the clearest example of why there is a constant need to change the rules .
There is a post on the Wembley thread saying we need to smarten up on the cheating side of the game .i can see where the poster is coming from but would much rather the power hungry little man make changes to reduce simulation , taking one for the team , inviting a foul ,holding your head when no contact with either another player or the ground ,taking throw in from a different postcode to where the ball went out , holding shirts, walking away while being booked .

The free kick one is interesting. No attacker allowed within 1m of the wall, if its made of 3 or more defenders.
The handball one will be interesting. Maybe we can claim handball Everytime a chest height pass comes into the box.

If, in the event of a touchline melee for example, the offending individual cannot be identified for punishment, the senior coach who is in the technical area will be the default recipient."
Gillingham manager may have difficulty with this one.

Divide the pitch into quarters, as denoted by similar markings that are used to denote the ten yards from corners, and the team taking the throw in can take it anywhere in the quarter it went out. It will stop players pinching yards controversially and will encourage more attacking football when a player can charge down the touchline for 25 yards before taking it.

The wall rule change is stupid and effectively penalising the team that were wronged in the first place. It’s entirely reasonable and fair to place your players wherever you decide to. If you want to block the view of defenders then you should.
A smart manager will place a player a metre in front of the wall. People seem to forget that if you have the free kick, you can’t encroach because you’re allowed to already.

The poor refs must have around 5 stop watches strapped to their arm.

The best thing to do would be to get rid of throw-ins altogether. They're so utterly pointless. Why are players suddenly allowed to use their hands just because the ball went out of play. Should be a kick-in.
