Wouldn't it be better to shelve this and use the money elsewhere in t'budget?

Absolutely! Ditch the Portugal trip, plus the overnight stays for away games (except Carlisle & Exeter) ....... and spend the money on the likes of Hylton & Akinfenwa.

I don't see the importance or the benefits of the Portugal trip. The weather is good in England at that time of year and they can still bond nicely in Mansfield.

I'm guessing you've forgotten about Plymouth!

Though I do agree about scrapping most of the overnight stays. Stopping overnight at Northampton and Port Vale is just ridiculous.

Probably considering it's only 4-5 weeks away it's already been paid for and very little chance of getting any cash back. On top of that the club advertised it and around 400 fans will have booked flights and hotels

other than that it's a great idea :)

The overnight stays don’t really contribute to good performances either.

Fine ... that will prepare them nicely for the season then. We don't play in Portugal conditions, so I don't see the point of it.

You seriously think a pre-season trip to Portugal will have any impact on our budget, let alone whether we can sign Hylton or not?

Give me strength.

Akinfenwa might be an unlikely build for a footballer and the age of Bishop, but he has contributed to 3 clubs being promoted from league 2 - and he has a lot more to offer than Danny Rose or any other strikers that we currently have.

That said - my first choice would be Hylton.

Id go for Hylton too... but I think he was injured a lot last year.. only completed 90 minutes 7 times. Still not bad, 25 overall apps and 8 goals in the league.

Complete waste of money this trip the players don’t respond or play any better for all this pre season stuff and overnight stays.... don’t get me started
We are MTFC not Man City FC
If they can get to league 1 then maybe raise the treAts and team bonding
Go carts and the like we’re useless for these players who only needed a flipping draw !!

Sometimes outputs can not be monetized.

We still have no idea if finances have been drastically cut so leave it to the club to do as they see fit.

Just talking about nothing, wait until you have info to go on.

OWS - there’s no end of “in the know” contributors on Stagsnet. In reality, they know no more than you or me. They should stop worrying about budgets and expenditure and just leave it to people that underwrite the club’s finances.
