What about us?.

Postby Old amber » Mon May 13, 2019 6:40 pm

What about us the long suffering stags fans... over the last 6 odd weeks we’ve backed the team, had 2 clear chances to get automatic promotion ... and still couldn’t get enough punishment, and heartache I think we’ve been a credit this season
Let’s all do it again next season ... but with an happier ending.

Can someone please write to the FA and ask why 2 points for the win was abolished OR why away goals don't count double in two legged ties when level is not enforced like in Europe #clutching at straws #spurs v ajax

In fairness surprised the away goal rule hasn't been adopted.

Certainly would have helped yesterday.

We only ever get promoted once every decade, usually when it ends in a 2. So a few years til 2022 yet.

Not sure why we're surprised.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Pinks lyrics to the song with the same title are quite apt , she could almost be a long suffering Stags fan like us ;)

Away goals used to count double after extra-time.......had they counted double after 90 minutes, we'd have beaten Chesterfield in 1995....unfortunately, we had two players sent off and they scored thee times in extra-time and went on to win the play-off final. :(

It's a conspiracy against Mansfield.
1995 v them, Wembley denied.
2012 v York, Wembley denied.
2019 v Newport, Wembley denied.
1992 or 1993? v Stoke in league cup. Winner played Man Utd.
Probably others too?

The Stoke one was particulary embarrassing for me as I was hanging off the West Stand railings telling Stoke fans the best way to get to the A50 (or ot may have just been to raspberry off, it's a while ago). When some kind soul told me there was still 30 minutes extra time.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

We are clutching at straws. You need to win games to succeed and we could not win one of our last five games to give us automatic promotion or to get to Wembley. The successful teams can grind out wins. How many times have we conceded 1-0 leads this season?

Too many. Cambridge away a good example. we tried to defend a 1 goal lead again !!! Northampton away another example.

This.
And then there were the shameful episodes at Meadow Lane and at home to Yeovil... both now playing in NON LEAGUE

With the name big al, I hope you are Alan Hardy talking about County next season.

Truthfully I cannot see us being in a relegation battle, as things stand. However that could change by the time August arrives.

Remember County was found to be rotten from the very top, which then spread to the team at the bottom. We aren't that.

Demps may be inexperienced at this level but surely the players respect what he's done with the youth team.

Without someone to put the ball in the net we'll not be challenging.
