January Transfer Window

Postby Waggy » Sun May 12, 2019 9:41 pm

Our recruitment in January is what's cost us. We were well in need of some steel in mid-field and a target man up front. Why did we go out and buy more show ponies and a young rookie?
And I don't feel any sorrow

On paper it was a good window, all players with a decent pedigree.

I don't think anyone foresaw the negative impact it would have on the team.

The fact that no target man was signed was a concern to many and proved to be our undoing.

To be fair though, had we continued with the type of football we'd been playing prior to the January window, a target man would have only ever been needed as a plan B option anyway. Davies was hardly a regular starter before he got injured, Ajose and Grant should have flourished had we not decided to start lumping balls forwards once 2019 came.
