He will be judged on the final game, at. MK. We can't win the play offs

Oldnck has it in one.

Good performance on Saturday and everything is fine and dandy, but as oldnick says, we are not good enough, at the monent to win the play offs.

As I've said on other threads, he's done as I would've expected so far with the resources at this disposal, this squad should be getting promoted. If he does that, automatically or otherwise, he's done his job as expected. I think there are managers out there who would've had promotion sewed up by now.

Anything less than that, he had under performed. I don't necessarily think he should be removed from his position, but that would be two seasons in a row he has failed to meet objectives. If I was running the club, I would give him certain target he needs to his throughout next season. If he didn't hit them, then I would cut ties.

Simple as that for me.

I'll ask you the same question at 5pm on Saturday Geoff.

I tell you what though, in the meantime how about consentrating on the team rather than the opinions of people who don't share your world view.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

I'll actually reply to this (I've got some boring work spreadsheet to do so this is more interesting).

His 1st 12 or so games weren't good. He managed the impossible of leading us out of the playoffs. However, it would be daft to have blamed him solely for that - it became evident the players weren't fit -some players didn't want to play for him and downed tools - he also tried to change the system too soon and in hindsight he would probably admit that.

This season has seen us play some fantastic football - some really enjoyable football and looked as though promotion was ours - unfortunately despite our lofty position performances and points declined.

Rightly or wrongly last season he had a reputation with some for "bottling it". Have he and the players done that in some games towards the end of this season - IMO - yes. A promotion budget has been provided and therefore the remit for this season would be promotion - if he achieves this Saturday or through the playoffs he's achieved his goal - if he doesn't then this wouldn't be a successful season (in the context of budget). I'm not interested in the fact that County had a budget and flopped etc etc.

The upshot of it is everyone wants him and the club to succeed - and for anyone to suggest otherwise is foolish.

Should he be here next season if we don't go up - yes.

Jeez , I think you need to go and rub one out. If That's what lights you up , recording people's negative opinions of your messiah then good luck to you.
I haven't been overly critical for a long time, instead saying nothing or getting behind the bloke, and yet you sit somewhere with your 'offenders spreadsheet' recording anything 'deemed derogatory ' with an alert switched on

I'm sure you will go and find some quote I made in the past, but that's up to you. Instead I have tried to focus on the positive for a good while.

For what it's worth , and I don't why I'm humouring you, here goes.
My opinion doesn't change one way or another, I have tried to support the bloke for a good while, he seems a decent man.

Last year I was unconvinced at the end of the season, this year we find ourselves third with a great chance of going up, albeit after a number of abject performances against struggling sides. I firmly believe that given the investment and support he has had both by the owners and in the stands, not much less than this position is expected for me.

I like every other Stags fan wants us to up on Saturday afternoon, and I'll be gutted like every other Stags fan if we don't.
But I won't be on here feeding your habits with a slagging off of the manager.

All supporters are entitled to an opinion that's why it's called a forum, just because you don't like it, publishing some sort of (in your eyes) rogues gallery of nay sayers is frankly pathetic.

That enough for you to 'work' with?

Why?

He will be judged on the season which in my view has been v enjoyable

The important thing is if we screw up at MK we support them and send them into the play offs in a positive frame of mind.

It’s alright for you ,if we don’t get promoted I’ve got 3 hours on a train with Adam en route tonLeeds -)) only joking Adam

I do love that someone would keep tabs on who's a doubter.

Maybe they look out their window each night and spy on the neighbours

Pleased to see I’ve secured a play off spot.

MTFC Musings has been relegated!

Congrats to Norman for a comfortable title win!

Relegated and renamed to 'Missing'.

Norman still won't be happy with that.

I think he’s worked him self up to average now in my opinion

Alot more points should have been gained but some truly woeful performances have cost us. the football hasn’t been great since Christmas but this is mainly down to injuries

January transfer window didn’t really work out as none of the players have made an impact or made an improvement to the squad. The right hand side of the team is extremely week again this is down to injuries and poor recruitment in January.

That said I would probably give him another year if we don’t go up. Due to the injuries impeding the style of play which can be wonderful and entertaining

I'm in at number 7!
Well, I think he's a really nice bloke and I respect that he wants to play easy-on-the-eye football. However nice blokes are not often winners and to get out of this division you need more height, power and urgency. Obviously hoping and praying for a win on Saturday, even though you'll probably list us all again to tell us "told you so"! I do actually think though that if we get promoted then his style of football will do OK in League 1.
