They are run by some absolute w*****s the like of which who are destroying football clubs across the land and it needs to stop now as it's getting ridiculous.

Next season they will be facing Notts County maybe or Yeovil. Torquay will be coming back up. They won't be getting out of that league any time soon and they need to accept this. Getting out of the NL is primarily about being organised and having a club that is pulling together in all directions. Chucking money at it doesn't necessarily work as Eastleigh have found out and others.

Chesterfield are a million miles away from being a harmonious club in all departments therefore all the money and signings in the world won't guarantee promotion. If they think it will they are in for a shock. The number of fans a club has doesn't equate to guaranteed success.

Shows how much we're beginning to forget about them as this thread had slipped onto page 2.
Anyway a big well done to Stockport and Torquay who've won the Conf North and South, meaning they'll be gracing the dip and probably Mardy Lane next season. Two clubs on the way back from absolute worse than the pit of Hell. The National League will soon resemble a League 2 of a few years back.
Yeovil
Sheep
Halifax
Wrexham
Hartlepool
Torquay
Stockport
probably Clownty :D
Dagenham
Barnet
Gateshead
Barrow
all in there. Plenty of competition next season, though I think Salford will spend even bigger and scupper the sheep.

Yes, in the days of re-election, like Southport and a few others.

Gateshead are a total different club with the present one starting out as South Shields in the 1970’s

My first game...1975....stags won 1 -0. Sat in the bishop street stand.....anyone remember the man on the gate? Pay for standing, and get a transfer into the seats.....worked out 5p cheaper from memory than going directly into the stand from Bishop Street.

I remember an old fellow working the gate early to mid eighties, he'd let us in for a few bob, as long as we jumped the turnstile. Easy money for the old lad to top up his pension.

Against Wigan in that cup game when George Foster scored a worldie there must have been 100 plus fans chucking him ten bob each.

Nice little earner..
Why do the two football teams I support always let me down.

As a naive 12 year old I climbed over the turnstile into WSU to assist the turnstile operator who said the gate had jammed! Glad Carolyn removed the temptation to fiddle the gate money with cashless entry. Shame it took 35 years to sort out.

Reminds me of an original episode of 606 with Danny Baker where he asked for unusual payment methods to gain entry to football grounds. It transpired that someone got into Field Mill for a Boxing Day fixture for the payment of one Tangerine!

Deluded spireites

Postby Uppityrstag » Thu Jul 04, 2019 10:32 am

Just popped over to Bob's board for a laugh at their reaction to their NON-LEAGUE fixtures. One poster says "Weekend in Torquay looks promising. Last game of the season at Dagenham for a big promotion party too. "
Nice to be so confident, but i can't see what that confidence is based on , going on their first season down there .

They've an outside chance of the playoffs (baring in mind about half the league is involved in them now) if they put a good run together possibly
