Both Stags & MK Dons still have to play Lincoln & Stevenage at home.

Stags have to go away to Exeter & Northampton (Cobblers last 6 games W4 D2 L0)

MK Dons have to go away to Tranmere, Forest Green & Colchester (MK Dons failed to beat any of these 3 teams at home)

Surely the Stags figures are 4-4-1 = 16 pts and not 4-3 2
Can we play Accrington Stanley every week.

Ok Kirkby we'll not go with that idea. Are there any more permutations that are favourable to us and leave the Pies in the bottom two?

3 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses in the last 9 games. Not good enough for automatic promotion.

I think we will need to win 6 of the last 8 games to secure automatic promotion (or 5 wins and 3 draws).

We have now officially played each team once. As i did last year working on the basis that if you win at home and draw away i.e take 4pts per team you'll get 92 points .Below is the road map for the remaining reverse fixtures and outcome required to secure 4pts against each team.

The defeat against Exeter means only 3pts rather than 4pts are attainable setting 91pts as the starting target.

Bury H (W) (W) +0 91pts
Swindon H (W) (D) -2 89pts
Grimsby A (D) (W) +2 91pts
Carlisle A (D) (L) -1 90pts
Yeovil H (W) (L) -3 87pts
Colchester A (W) (W) +0 87pts
Tranmere H (W) (W) +0 87pts
Macclesfield H (W) (W) +0 87pts
Newport A (D) (L) -1 86pts
Notts County A (D) (L) -1 85pts
Forest Green H (W) (W) +0 85pts
Cheltenham H (W) (W) +0 85pts
Port Vale A (D) (L) -1 84pts
Crawley A (D) (D) +0 84pts
Lincoln H (W) (D) -2 82pts
Crewe H (D)
Exeter A (W)
Cambridge H (W)
Northampton A (D)
Morecambe H (D)
Oldham A (W)
Stevenage H (D)
MK Dons A (W)

8 games remain - 4 Wins 4 Draws will give us 82 points.

If we can keep the same back 5 as last night settled then we have a much greater chance of top 3.

We’ve looked shakey in recent weeks with the Sweeney suspension and injury, Preston injury, new players coming in and moving Pearce out of his natural position and it caught up with us. For me the defence got back to where we have been last night and but for a GK error would have been looking at a clean sheet - hopefully they all see the season through now.

The last day of the season feels more like it’s going to be massive with each passing week at the moment!

Ultimately it’s still in our hands, sort our results and it doesn’t matter what MK or Tranmere do. The fixtures look tough to me but so do theirs, we’ve definitely got a better chance that last year!

Tranmere and MK have far harder fixtures than we do.

I agree adam, we’ve given ourselves a great chance and it’s up to us to beat whoever turns up in front of us. Even if it’s easier on paper you can’t just turn up and collect points like the County and Vale matches have proven.

I'm assuming 81 points will be enough for automatic promotion, TOP 3 finish.

Current Table
PLD.....W......D.....L......PTS......PPG
38......17.....15....6......66.......1.74

Required for 81 points
PLD....W......D......L......PTS......PPG
8.......5.......0......3.......15......1.88
8.......4.......3......1.......15......1.88

Based on our current PPG 1.74 we would finish on 80 points, which is usually Play-Offs.

In our last 8 league games we've averaged PPG 1.38

4 MASSIVE home games left, The town needs to turn out and make some noise, promotion is there for the taking.

Surely that puts Martin's Grant ppg ratio love in to bed

His signing has totally unbalanced the work rate and formation of a side that was playing brilliant football pre Xmas, sending Elsnik back was criminal to get this prima donna in.

The points per game with Grant in the side is still slightly higher than before he joined, even after the last 3 games without a win.

Wasn’t Elsnik recalled by Derby, and Sweeney signed to free up a loan space?

:good_post:

"good post" but not correct.

Woody has obviously been waiting patiently for us not to win so that the points per game with Grant playing reduces to a point where it is less than before he joined.

But his stats are wrong. Because they are still higher, albeit just.

Stats eh Martin, I'll jiggle them to look at the period with the talented and grafting Elsnik compared to that work shy prancing

Based on the average PPG of future opponents (taking into account HOME/AWAY results) The Stags have an easier run-in.

..................PPG
Lincoln........1.41
Bury...........1.44
STAGS........1.30
MK Dons.....1.43
Tranmere....1.68

At the other end of the table The Pies have the most difficult run-in.

................PPG
Yeovil........1.38
Macc.........1.25
PIES.........1.46

He went to Northampton and they seemed to have picked up but not looked at their results to confirm.
