Ryan Sweeney Out With Concussion (Centre Half Crisis?)

Postby Tippy Tappy Football » Mon Mar 11, 2019 2:57 pm

Club update: "Matt Preston (knee) remains a doubt and will have to pass a scheduled late fitness test to be included in the squad, while fellow centre-half Ryan Sweeney is out with concussion, suffered in Saturday's match at Vale Park."

It looks like it will be a back four with Krystian Pearce and Ben Turner at centre half.

DF will not start with a back 4, we all know that. He will have Benning, Pearce and Turner as the 3 centre halves. CJ will be left wing back and either Jones/ Atkinson right wing back. He’s frightened to death to start with a back 4, but could change it if things are going wrong.

Anything other than a back 4 tomorrow is wrong in my opinion if Preston is out. We tried shifting Pearce to RCB on Saturday and it didn’t work, and Turner doesn’t have the pace to play there so he can only play in the centre. Benning shouldn’t really be playing at CB too often either. 1 player in a makeshift role of a back 5 you can get away with, but not 3 or 4.

I’d go with (but not expecting)...

..............Smith.................
Jones Pearce Turner Benning
.......Macca Tomlinson.........
...............Mellis.................
.........Walker Hamilton........

Bishop not been himself of late and would be typical for him to get booked on the 37th game and miss 2 games. Get him ready for Lincoln with the risk of a suspension behind him. Khan slightly unlucky to miss out.

Hopefully Preston passes fit though.

Only going with 10 players is a risk.

 you’re right!

I’d go with Khan in which case with Mellis as part of a 3. Though Grant will probably get the nod with Walker being back.

Did Sweeney get concussion after 30 seconds Saturday? It would account for his performance.

I’d even consider a youngster if he’s keeping it 3 at the back....anything not to have to start Turner.

It's only a dislocated shoulder. Lee Beevers would have 3 of them in the first 10 minutes of a game and still run though a brick wall shoulder first!
