Disappointing day.

Disappointing, but not too much of a shock. It's a tough place to go.

Not the sort of prep for next weekend we had in mind.

We are a bit 'hit and miss', Notts seem to have found some confidence.

Disappointing result.

I hope Rose isn't going to be out long term, we are short of strikers.

BBC say only 1 shot on target? If that's true then it is pretty poor, were conditions that bad?

Lots of twists before this season is done, but today, and our injury/suspension list is not helpful going into next week.
I just hope we can turn it on to silence the bile coming out of the County board for one thing.

The pitch stopped us going down the wings where we are most dangerous but that's not a good enough excuse for only making one decent chance all game (that was within the first 20 seconds) we just were not at the races today and Newport fully deserved to win the game.

I'm more concerned about Sweeney and Rose now, unless Turner is fit for his debut we only have two defenders for a back three and without Rose that's pretty much no proper striker on the bench.

White, Ojenik, Macca, Graham, Rose, Davies all out, that's making life a lot more difficult.

Very poor performance from us but that was down to a very physical and dirty Newport side, that pitch is horrific to be fair and they know exactly how to play on it.

Every pass just didn't come off for us, could tell it wasn't going to be our day.

Onwards and upwards against a very difficult game v Notts.

The thing is we have been training on a hard artificial pitch and then played on a mud bath. That won't help.

This difference today was set pieces by the sound of it. Ours were poor (as usual) and theirs were good (as usual)

Like Middlesbrough, we couldn't adapt well enough to the conditions.

How can people say results went for us ?
Five of the teams around us got more points than us today .

Bad result imo.
No guarantee's we will beat County , Lincoln or Forest Green

Can see us going with a back 4 against County, Tomlinson looked alright when he came on.

Not going to be as easy as some people think. They have had 2 good games against top teams and did something today that we couldnt , beat FGR away!

Should Carlisle win their game in hand it gets cut down to 3 points, big big fight for the top 3 is coming and nothing is guaranteed at all.

Positives as well is at least we have Bishop for the County game, he could be very crucial.

I’ll tell you why...

Because Lincoln SHOULD have beat Northampton, they didn’t.

Forest Green SHOULD have beat County, they didn’t.

Carlisle & Exeter both shared the points

The only results that really went against us were Colchester and Bury which was expected.

We cannot win every week, simple as that. We’re in an excellent position but we need to make games against lowly opposition count (Notts, Cheltenham, Port Vale, Crawley) all coming up in the next month.

On current form we should of beat Newport , but we didnt
Five teams got more points than us today and you are happy ? Lincoln played with ten men .

Just back in the car, probably the most disappointed I’ve been after a loss this season. In previous losses we looked like scoring, but today was poor unfortunately. Ajose should have scored in the first minute and from there on in our attacking play lacked any real theat.

What’s annoyed me about today is that Newport caused us very few problems all day, in fact they were non existent after we fell asleep for the corner they scored from but they won the game. Too many changes to our side, forced or otherwise meant we looked disjointed. CJ must have played 4 positions in 90 minutes, Jones had his first serious involvement, as did Tomlinson, and we had taken Ajose and Benning off so we were nowhere near our best. Grant went missing second half too unfortunately.

Might be a reality check for some though, including some fans. I’ve seen plenty get too carried away and there’s a third of the season left yet. Results were pretty good for us today so that’s a plus, but it’s going to be a very tough game next week at County where we need to bounce back with a win!
