There manager just said he rested a lot of players at Grimsby due to his belief he could beat Middlesbrough tonight. He did say he won’t be doing that again in the league

So he's given up on any chance of trying to get promoted then with that sort of attitude.

He gave up one match to make the club an extra £500k.
I’d like to think given there mid table position that this was acceptable.

Like I said he's given up on any thoughts of a late bid for the playoffs.

Following on BT sports 2 was an old MOTD game from the 1960’s. Leicester vs Burnley where Leicester won 5-1 with ex stags Mike Stringfellow, Jimmy Goodfellow and Bobby Roberts playing for Leicester with Mike Stringfellow rifling in the fifth goal.

Let's hope for an "after the Lord Mayor's show" performance by Newport on Saturday.

Only way they’ll be able to sort that pitch out is to stop playing rugby on it, although I seem remember reading somewhere that Rodney Parade is primarily a rugby ground.

Just heard their manager on TalkSport. Rested players against Grimsby, and says the 'club' comes first. He then explained it in terms of prize money, and how a good cup run will tide them over for the next two years.
They have got us and MK Dons (Next Tuesday) between now and when they play Man City. He said if players start backing out of challenges, they won't be playing against City.
He then mentioned us and mentioned we'd only lost 2 in 20, and that we are 'one of the big boys' in the league. I think we just need to concentrate on our own game. We've got enough to beat these regardless of whether they are giving it 100% or not.

And I suspect they probably like how difficult it is for opponents to play on. Direct passing and well-drilled set pieces seem to be their strengths. Get the ball in the box and Matt and Amond will find the net. Of course, when they go away to a good pitch they may find that this doesn't work as well, but at home it seems to. They've only lost 2 at home (same as us), but have lost 9 away!

Precisely.
Let's also hope they're hungover today, their keeper goes on paternity leave, and they sort that pitch out.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Yeovil beat Newport 6-0 at Rodney Parade earlier in the season.

Just watched a re-run of last night's match as I was out at another game last night.
What a magnificent performance from Newport. I'm not surprised that my friend, iFollow Newport commentator Tim Thraves, said it was the best performance he had ever seen in 60 years of watching Newport.

The situation hasn’t changed. They’re a foreign nation club. They have a separate league and a separate FA.

No they wern’t. They were formed in 1989 when they joined the Hellenic League (Step 4 in those days) and played in Moreton in Marsh in Gloucestershire.
