Poor journalism , says they're in 22nd one place above the relegation zone . I thought 4 went down .

If they win all their games from now on in they can still make the playoffs.

Dave Allen, the owner of Chesterfield, who takes no responsibility for Chesterfield's current position hopes to be back in League 1 by the time he is 80 (three seasons).

Ashley Carson: "At the end of the day, everyone knows it, we're living beyond out means. Without a doubt. I understand the shareholders on Monday night will be saying the same. On paper, this business isn't sustainable."

"Financially I think it's been reported already that [John Sheridan's] probably going to be one of the highest paid managers in this league and League Two as well. But it's worth it to keep this club in this league.

Carson says this appointment has got to be right and Sheridan will be backed financially to help guarantee safety from the drop. We've got to throw money at it to get it right. Dave Allen said it is the last roll of the dice really, it has to work. He will be given money to strengthen the team."

So the business isn’t sustainable so we’ll bring in the highest paid manager in our history then give him thousands more to buy players to try & get us out of the pit of misery even though we might go down again?!

You couldn’t make it up could you?!

I wonder how much Sheridan and the owners are betting on them staying up or going down.
I'm sure we will soon find out!
I must be very honest in the interest of stags net that I have no idea if they have or will.
Just a thought and hopefully it's betting down. :D
:coys:
The one hope they have is that the tennis tournament allegedly arranged pre season has been cancelled.

Surely all it means is the same players are going to ask for an additional 10-20% in negotiations with them?

The club is clearly unsustainable at the moment in the National League. What interested me was that Dave Allen said it is the last roll of the dice.

I don't see how Sheridan's old school type of managing will go down well with the existing players who IMO didn't want to play for MA ,too similar .
I don't think it will work , as just 'throwing money at it ' is not always the answer
dilly dilly !

"Director of football David Holdsworth said Sheridan's exact reasons for leaving had to remain private. He added the club had been “managing certain situations” and that they had handled the outcome in the right way, with United set to receive compensation."

I wonder what the "situations" were? Falling out with most of the senior players?

A rumour doing the rounds is that Sheridan has been known to visit Allen’s casinos in Sheffield and know each other quite well. The rumour continues that they have had on going dealings with each other before the Chesterfield appointment and that Sheridan will not see all of his mega salary.

The Carlisle fans in the pub all suggested he liked a beer or 7 which hindered things with the club
