I'm assuming 81 points will be enough for automatic promotion, TOP 3 finish.

Current Table
PLD.....W......D.....L......PTS.......PPG
25......11.....12....2.......45.......1.80

Required for 81 points
PLD.....W.....D.......L......PTS......PPG
21......12.....0.......9.......36.......1.71
21......11.....3.......7.......36.......1.71
21......10.....6.......5.......36.......1.71
21.......9......9.......3.......36.......1.71
21.......8.....12......1.......36.......1.71

Based on our current PPG 1.80 we would finish on 83 points, which is usually Top 3 :D .

In our last 10 league games we've averaged PPG 2.1

Joint best defensive record in the division, only conceding 19 goals in 25 games (same as MK Dons)

Only 2 defeat in Flitcroft's last 30 League games ;)
Won 13
Drawn 15
Lost 2

We are currently 5 points better off than under the Fat Controller but he kicked into gear in his last 9 games in charge with 6 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. He left with 60 points from 34 games. Therefore David Flitcroft needs 16 points from 9 games to beat the Scottish Manager's tally. Hopefully he can do it. COYS!!

The key to that will be the home games

Yeovil, Crawley, Tranmere, Macc and FG should yield a bare minimum of 10

Colchester, FG, Newport and County away is going to be the problem - i'd be delighted with 6

20.......9......9.......2.......36.......1.80
20.......8.....12......0.......36.......1.80

Based on our current PPG 1.73 we would finish on 80 points, which is usually play-offs.

In our last 10 league games we've averaged PPG 2.0

Best defensive record in the division, only conceding 20 goals in 26 games

Beat Crawley on Tuesday and we're back on target for a top 3 finish.

David Flitcroft is now only 2 points better off than Steve Evans after 26 games but Evans finished with 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in his last 8 games in charge. DF now needs 16 points from 8 games to beat the Scottish Manager's tally. I can see the scores on the doors being very similar after 34 games. Hopefully this time DF will manage a much stronger finish in the last 12 games.

At this stage it’s hard to look beyond Bury , MK Dons and Lincoln being in that business end come May . Unless we address our goal scoring problems and have a serious plan B when things aren’t going so well it’s looking likely the play offs are looming.

who's not to say one of those teams might have a bad run in form? you can't write anything off until the final ball of the season is kicked.

Most teams in the promotion shake up each season will have a wobble & go 4 or 5 games without a win at some point. They will also lose games that look like home bankers.

I’m not writing anything off all I’m saying is if we don’t address our frailitys in that final 3rd we will see more games like yesterday . Hopefully a few new quality faces incoming next week and a few squad passengers exiting .

We win our game on Tuesday, which I have no doubt we'll do and we'll be 3rd. It's not all doom and gloom. Also we may not be miles ahead of where we were under Evans, but the football we're playing is a different level - plus with a much smaller squad.

Our last 20 league games are W9 D8 L3, so not quite good enough for the 81pts if we do same as last 20.

Darren's got a DF boil under his armpit, it formed at back end of last season and it'll not get lanced until Dr Flitcroft comes in May with a big promotion needle to drain it. If he doesn't it'll fester and grow and Darren will probably go to A&E and demand they get the DF out

I am just comparing the situation to last season so we can have a discussion/debate which is what a forum is all about. Many of us may not be big fans of Steve Evans but he is part of our history. I am just making the point that DF could end up with a chance of redemption in the last 12 games and hopefully this time he will erase the memory of the disappointing finish last season by guiding us to promotion. This time it will be his team and not the Scottish Manager's team. I like the bloke and hope he succeeds.

If he does not succeed then I will be angry/cross/disappointed but I will not be wanting him to be sacked. I have never wanted him to be sacked. He just needs to keep doing what has worked well for him this season. He does not need to panic and start to make too many changes. We all know as well that it can take a while for new signings to settle in and they do not all hit the ground running.

How come it’s down as 81 points for automatics? This is the last 7 seasons points total for 3rd place.

2018 - 84
2017 - 85
2016 - 85
2015 - 85
2014 - 81
2013 - 78
2012 - 84

I'd say its 55/45 in favour of promotion as it stands.

Colchester away Tranmere home and FG away are a tough run of games 5 or more from than then happy days

I presume it’s based on the average points total of 4th place, which you only need to get a point more than;

2018 - 80pts
2017 - 77pts
2016 - 85pts
2015 - 84pts
2014 - 76pts
2013 - 76pts
2012 - 83pts

Averages out just over 80 points.

Current Table

27......12.....12....3.......48.......1.78

19.......9......6.......4.......33.......1.74
19.......8......9.......2.......33.......1.74
19.......7.....12......0.......33.......1.74

Based on our current PPG 1.78 we would finish on 82 points, which is usually Top 3, automatic promotion.

In our last 10 league games we've averaged PPG 2.0

Best defensive record in the division, only conceding 20 goals in 27 games

Notts Co are currently on PPG 0.75, they're currently on target to finish on 35 points :D , to reach 50 points they need PPG 1.61 which is play-off form.
