Does this mean PC Gabbitas will be hanging up his helmet for a long and well earned retirement?

If so, I hope the gate will be forever named after him, rather fitting after all these years. Or will he allowed to take the gate with him as a retirement present so that in his golden years he could look down his garden at the gates and fondly remember all the games where ‘he’ has closed them.

And it would save on the helmet being passed round Mansfield Police Station for a leaving collection which would benefit a least one PC on here who watches the Stags.

I know Mansfield police claim to be short staffed and just hand out crime numbers instead of investigative work, but things must be bad if they are recruiting Albanianese coppers

Sounds like a Pink tribute act. Mind you I would rather have a Pink lookalike in fishnet stockings and suspenders guarding the gate than PC Gabbitas

P.C. Gabbitas officially hangs up his helmet on Sat. 13th April after the Northampton away game.

After that, he will revert to being Joe Public, following a long and illustrious career.
It would be nice if we could pay some sort of tribute to him at the match.

Suggestions on a postcard please.

I hope the taxi driver taking him to his retirement bash takes the long route and racks up the bill.

Organise a retirement party then lock the door for twenty mins when he gets there.

I've never understood the fuss with all this. Anyone who thinks that at any game if the gate is open, there is no chance of hordes of 'pavement dancers', from either side running to engage in lots of posturing and perhaps worse at the back of the North Stand is living in cloud cuckoo land.
It needs shutting, and the police at the entrance to the retail park because that is where the issues are. I'm sorry but for all the folk on this thread, who basically want to go about their lawful business walking home after the game, because of a few and it is quite a few mind, you can't , you'll have to deal with walking a bit further which in my case isn't a bad thing.
We have few enough police to deal with everyday crime, taking a lot of them away to deal with gangs of folk bent on trouble is a crime in itself.

Because there is no other ground in the country you cannot walk all the way around:?

I go down quarry lane anyway, so it doesn't bother me. Apart from the fact Quarry lane is busy, and lots of potential for accidents down there. It should be closed for cars as a through route if we persist in funneling fans that way. ie only cards coming out of the car parks near by
