Old Ram is annoyed as he had Danny Rose to score 1st and Mansfield to win 2-1.

It’s weird as I’m sure he only drew like 3 league games at Swindon.

I've put that same comment on another thread.

Surely its not flitdraw, its mr.consistent.

Give it two more games and county will be level on points with us (2 draws for us and 2 wins for them), after the start they had it puts things in a different light.

Just shows how important a run of wins are and how it can push you up this league quickly.

let's be realistic if DF had said to JR I will not get you promotion and even miss out on the play offs, and next season I will win you 3 of the first 10 and be 16th in the league in mid Oct , I'm sure he would still be at Swindon or sacked.

That explains a lot.

Perhaps you should contact DF and ask for some compo.

But how realistic is it that DF would remotely say that to JR ?

I bet your were a demon at the old job interviews, ORS :P

You could probably apply that to 95% of managers across the leagues

In fairness to DF he wasn't the manager for the Coventry game, so not even I can blame him for that.

It does go to show that his tactics in trying to keep a lead clearly does not work, and yet he persists with the same tactics - again and again and again.

DF has had only one transfer period in which to operate, and ask anyone on here who had interviewed & appointed people you only know what you have when they're doing the job you appointed 'em to. You can and do make some horrible mistakes. e.g. when he brought in a loan player, Stagsnet news reported "Highly-rated Reds’ striker Tyler Walker".

He has put together a good footballing side which can open up every defence in this division, unfortunately the finishing touch is not there. Someone else said players win games, not tactics. Too true, think back to your favourite stags side and it's the players you remember. Our promotion from the Conference was down in no small part to having the best striker in the division.

I'm certain DF's number 1 priority come the transfer window will be a goal scorer, but in the meantime he can only work with what he has, many of whom have not reached expectations. So many opportunities in almost every game go begging.

With such a toothless forward line, and to be in a winning position with not much of the game to go, as a manager would you keep attacking knowing a goal was unlikely, or would there be a temptation to add to your defence in an attempt to hold what you have?

Come the January transfer window Flitcroft wont be here. Neither likely will be Danny Rose who will be playing at a higher level. So we will be needing multiple strikers by then but will there be a budget for it? The forward line will be toothless if there is not.
With 15 minutes to play defending a narrow lead by dropping everyone deep behind the ball is suicide as we have witnessed. You need all the players higher up the pitch to hold up the ball and maintain more possession in the opponents half and draw poor tackles in so free kicks are gained and this effectively runs down the clock and frustrates your opponents. This takes pressure off the defense, its not all about scoring again but at least its possible too. Taking off all the strikers makes it virtually impossible as with all 11 players defending who is going to score a goal?
