Pearce at fault for Bury equaliser left his man unmarked to have the freedom of the 18 yard box....

Basic defending stay goalside of the attacking player...

DF not at fault for a schoolboy error n sorry to say not the 1st tin KP going AWOL in defence...

Bish shuda blasted the ball all the way down to the Bury custodian then they'd have had to build again from scratch, but to just curl it down the line to one of their lads relieved no pressure at all. All ifs, buts n maybes but I'd hazard a guess that we'd have gotten our shape back in that moment and seen it out. Good finish by Maynard on both goals, instinctive stuff. I wonder whether he'd have finished Rose's and Khan's chances they fluffed?

Kristian Pearce that last ditch defending was worthy of being dropped.

It was as criminal as Logan's last minute flap Vs Colchester.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Terrible marking by Pearce for the equalizer. What is the point of having 3 central defenders if they don't mark the strikers (goalside). And the fact that we let them waltz through in the first place .... bad defending all round.

Don't you think Pearce was hung out to dry by all the others who had the chance to tackle Mayor, then KP had to stick or bust?

Yes ... the non existent tackling in the build up play certainly enticed Pearce to come forward into no-mans land - but he should still have held his ground. I'm not blaming solely Pearce. If Bishop had have cleared it properly we wouldn't have been put under pressure in the first place. It was poor defending all round.

Nicky Maynard has previously had a few multi million pound transfers. Lost his way recently, and Bury have taken a punt on him with a short term contract until January.

Well he displayed the kind of finishing we are lacking.

Good signing for them especially if he continues to finish chances with aplomb.

He’s a natural finisher who hasn’t got it in the tank to pick up the positions that are required regularly to get shots off (apart from yesterday) where as we have strikers who get in good positions but can’t finish for Sunday lunch.

I love KP but why he was going walkabout there i have no idea, criminal defending. If the midfielder blasts it in from 25 yards you hold your hands up.

Khan was our best player getting us up the pitch and creating chances, Mellis should have come on for Bish who was on a booking, looked like he had a knock, and couldn't get anywhere near the No.10 who kept gliding past him - i'd have the No.10 here in heartbeat.

The ref was clearly an "even things up" type. The Stags penalty appeal at the end was rock solid, but I guess that the ref felt that he'd failed to give Bury a penalty so couldn't give Mansfield one either. You can see that the Bury players liked him a lot!
