If you mean choice of studs I tend to agree.

Regarding watering the pitch clubs do it to gain an advantage.

Its all about "small margins" as AM used to say.

In my day with screw in studs we just put rugby studs in. The extra length made sure we didn't slip, whether it was 3 inch deep in mud or dog sh.. :D

But with long studs, there is more chance the studs get stuck in turf and player damages knee ligaments

I look forward to the first game we play in the rain this season. If watering the pitch gets people this exited, a heavy downpour will bring about the increasingly regular, ‘Stagsnet Meltdown’.

Do you really think it’s mezzas decision ?

No i don't think it's Mezzas decision especially after the later posts about the players having the wrong studs in thier boots.
If the pitch requires 20% moisture content then so be it. It is looking superb but it should be this early in the season and with all the money that has been spent on it.

Similar problem today with quite a few of our players slipping although the pitch today also seemed softer than ours. Not many slips from Bury players so perhaps they had the experience of it and the right stud selection.

Too true, I think they emptied Ladybower Dam onto the Gigg Lane surface at HT.
