CJ is a Marty find though so he's bound to get better marks even when he's done.... well nothing really.

I thought CJ had a good game, involved in a lot of the best work and kept the Plymouth defenders spread out and unable to risk blocking the centre. Yes, he didn't get much space to put crosses in but he helped cause many of the chances by opening up gaps. Had the ref been fair he'd have also been responsible for reducing Plymouth to ten men.

CJ was poor. Apart from the incident where he was taken out, the right back had him in his back pocket. I thought Byrom was really rood, perhaps the best I have personally seen him play.

there have been plenty of games where's Byrom's set pieces have been great quality. That wasn't the case on Saturday in my opinion. And of course we saw the quality of Carey's delivery to the far post for their first goal. Byrom's best moment was the ball forward to MacDonald early in the game in my opinion.

I personally thought Cj had a poor game, Switched off for the free kick for the first goal as well.

Surprised no one mentioned Macdonald, he ran his socks off and put in a real shift to try and make things happen.

we certainly talked about MacDonald. Creatively excellent but finishing let him down badly.

It was a good delivery, no doubt. I wouldn't go so far as brilliant though. (The second goal was brilliant)

A league standard goalkeeper should deal with that cross. The reason it looks so high is because he effectively walked under the ball - because he didn't read the flight.

Its not Shearers fault we lost yesterday - but he could have done better with the first goal.

Evans on Shearer

That's the first time I've disagreed with Evans' opinion. The second was a rocket but no matter how many times I look at the first and in slow-mo I don't understand how Shearer got himself in a position where he was beaten by the height on the delivery whilst stood on his line. He just watched it go over him.

showaddywaddy, have you seen the two images on page 1 of this thread? It was well above the level of the bar. He had no chance.

I agree Martin, I do not think Shearer is good enough long term, but he gets very unfair treatment on here and some cannot wait to blame him, most without this predisposition know full well he wasn't at fault and actually has done no worse than Kean, whom many on here were proclaiming the new Peter Shilton not so very long ago.

I have but I still don't see how he gets beat by the height of the delivery whilst being stuck to his line. Whether or not he positioned himself correctly, didn't judge the flight of the ball or whatever, to me it looks like he should be dealing with that a lot better than just watching it sail over him. The second was an absolute cracker and he had no chance.

Since his return to the side Shearer has been let off in the last minute against Newport by dashing off his line like a mad man, could easily have seen red at Yeovil and I think the first goal Saturday was at least partially down to him.

To be fair Kean was giving me nightmares before his injury too and that was after a fine start to his Stags career. I have said a couple of times and stand by it that Jensen would be my preferred number 1 for the run in.

And I didn't think Byrom was worth more than a 6 !

Just goes to show that we all see things individually.

It wasn't higher than the crossbar when the player headed it in though was it?

Thats why his initial movement movement is a big technical error. If he judged the ball flight properly then he would have moved two steps towards the back post where he could have got to ball first.

in case you haven't spotted it BELSE, I have people telling me I'm wrong every single match, every single week, and have done so since my first report in 1998, nearly 20 years ago.

It's the nature of taking time to construct a report and an opinion, ... others will disagree with that opinion. Your comment is up there with some of the most insulting in that time.

Please don't take it to heart Martin. Look at his spelling, grammar and punctuation, he's possibly 10 at most with an IQ to match
